I’d fire him for cause by the way he looks. Buy a mirror dude.
When it’s the only time you’ve ever even scraped the FF why would you ditch him? That’s life time contract kinda stuff for a place like SoCar imo. I think everyone thinking he gets canned is thinking of it from the perspective of a top/mid tier basketball school.

Frank Martin is a helluva coach. South Carolina is lucky to have him.. imo

He developed Alopecia after being sick with a bad bout of Covid. Other health problems made it worse.
Frank coaches his arse off. That's what I care about. Commenting on his looks is so strange to me I was taken aback by it. Not a normal thing. WTH would the poster have said about John Cheney or Tark? Who talks about that sort of thing?
Couple these posters walking about the mall "look at him, his jacket doesn't match his shoes" and "oh his hair is so 2019"...

True story, like 4 or 5 years ago I was sitting right behind the South Carolina bench at the sec tournament. They had a center that was from Russia and during the game he made some bad mistakes and came over to the bench, Frank Martin looked at him and told him to stop fouling and the Russian kid look at him and Martin said and I quote” **** it, I don’t even know why I’m talking to you, your dumb *** doesn’t even know English. I don’t know why but I think about that memory with my grandfather all the time. Go to the opening round of the SEC Tournament just to see him it’s worth it
Same with Holly Roe. Woman had bad cancer been through hell. Hard telling what treatments and drugs she’s been on or is on to live. And every game she’s does for us there’s a dozen Miss Piggy references.

He was losing his hair due to covid. You think he just decided to shave his eyebrows because he was losing a little head hair? SMH.
I didn’t even kno that was a thing until I got it. Not really during covid but after. My hair was falling out in clumps every time I’d shower.

Martin got bald just because he thought it is the right time to go bald, as he has started to see his hair fall due to old age.
He said in the interview with The State, that he loved his hair a lot, and likes to keep it, but never imagined that he might have to lose them someday.
As explained by Frank, he decided to go bald as he knew that he might not able to fight nature.
10 years and Martin has produced very little with the exception of the fluke run to the Final 4 and one trip to the NIT.
His record for the 10 years at Carolina = 166–143 (.537) overall and 74–96 (.435) in SEC games..practically 100 losses in games vs confernce teams but yet Tanner and BOG can see no reason to send him down the road.
He has had two really decent seasons that being the 2015-16 and 2016-17 seasons where 52 of his 166 wins were accounted for BUT yet he is still employed as the head coach.

His buyout was renegotiated last year ( lowered) so this might be the end if the AD (Tanner) who is a major problem finally does what he should have a couple of years ago.

There football program is nothing special but might make inroads this year with Beamer as the head man..the school with the exception of a couple of NCAA baseball and a Women's hoops NCAA title has a very limited and poor athletic history. The fans and alums for some reason never see reality but live in a fantasy world where a couple of consecutive wins to them is like winning a national title.

Carolina will not, I repeat will not find a better Coach
He coached the team that beat Puke in the Elite Eight.

I actually think he is a good coach. His kids always play hard. What he sucks at is recruiting. But it is not easy to recruit at SC. When he did have a team of good not great players he took them to the final 4. That is the mark of a good coach.
SC will still probably let him go and not saying they shouldn't. But I still think he is a solid coach. As we saw last year. Even great coaches struggle without talent.
