Spoke to him today. He and his wife of 10 years with 3 children are doing great and living Chicago. He loves Nebraska, where he met his wife who was the squad leader for Cheerleaders.

Most of you probably remember his story better than I do. He came to Nebraska as a heralded QB from Louisiana and then Frost transferred and he moved to WR where he had a devastating knee injury. As he reminisced some about it, you could still tell in his voice the anguish he experienced trying to comeback from the injury.

He'll always have that drive against UCF.

Did he say what he's doing these days

For awhile he was managing a team of inside sales reps for a Silicon Valley tech company out of their Chicago office. A few of my friends worked under him....Feedback was interesting...

Yes. And Chuck E. Cheese is their favorite pizza joint in Omaha. Sometimes World B. Free comes along but he's not related of course.
World B. Free. Thanks for reviving those memories. Watched him play for the San Diego Clippers back in the day when he was Lloyd Free. What a player!!! The Clippers were actually pretty good in their 1978 inaugural season. Lloyd Free, Randy Smith, Swen Nater, Sidney Wicks, Kermit Washington and company. Gene Shue was the head coach. I remember it like yesterday.

I'd not heard of World B. Free. I got the name confused with Metta World Peace. At least there is some logic to arriving at the name World B. Free (from Leonard B. Free) compared to Ron Artest to Metta World Peace. Edit: I googled Metta and it appears to be a Buddhist concept of loving-kindness, so I guess there is a little logic to the name./
