Are we undervaluing him?

He would be a huge get. Big bodied DB with a ton of big time offers and outstanding film both in coverage and tackling.
If we close on him and Johnson, this defense can look downright scary when this and last years classes become juniors and seniors.
(Calm down, Im not saying we shouldnt see defensive improvement before then)
This is a great class regardless, but francois would be huge.

The talent upgrade at all three levels of defense the past few classes and the depth created is an absolute homerun by this staff.

Go get them signed!

He is the one I want over Slusher. If we got both I’d be stoked but if we only get one, please it it be Francois, please!!!

I don’t think he’s undervalued, I think he’s overvalued. Personally, I’d rather have Mike Nobler.

Honest question... how do some of you seem to know so much about these recruits, especially relative to one another? Hudl film? Seen them play? Insider info from talking to coaches?
I have zero knowledge on any of these guys beyond what I read on here and a few other sites. So I am grateful that some of you on here know more than I do. That is not sarcasm.

I had a pretty tight connection irt someone that actually picked recruits up at the airport under Riley....also pretty good connection that ran through Gebbia. Before that, I had a good connection (friend of a friend in the AD, and a really good friend who’s dad was really tight with FS. Nothing under Callahan....and nothing now. No more “insider info”lol. I am just like you now Pennsy. I have to hear all the good stuff through the board. ;)

I've completely given up on the recruiting rankings for kids that come out of Florida and California. It always seems like they are overrated. Take a kid like Hutmacher or Corcoran and put them in Florida and they are immediately ranked higher. With no doubt there is a positive bias for kids from those states.

JMO, Louisiana and Georgia produce better football players than California and Florida.

There is no doubt in my mind that the commercial recruiting services have a regional bias but also tend to favor athletes attending larger urban/suburban schools. You don't even need to place Hutmacher in Florida or California. If Hutmacher played for a prominent suburban Kansas City or Denver high school instead of rural Chamberlain, SD, he would undoubtedly receive a higher Rivals rating.

The main thing to remember is that a high school rating by Rivals or 247 really doesn't matter. The prospect will prove his talent/ability when they arrive and compete at college no matter his high school rating.

Part of the problem is not the player per sey but the competition they played against. I read that some evaluators had concerns that Nash should have dominated his opponents (but apparently didn't) who were not always/consistenly a high caliber. About what you would expect in a smaller state.

If you want to burn a bunch of time and learn very little, watch a bunch of HS film. I would not want to be an evaluator, there are tons of variables.

I also don't think all 4* are the same.

I guess the best players don’t go to the nfl then..because Florida is the top NFL state by a landslide. South Florida to be exact.

Pretty sure that isn't true, but could be wrong. Last time I saw figures on this Florida was behind Georgia, Texas, and Louisiana for most players in the NFL. That's been a few years ago so it may have changed

Edit: you are correct. The report I saw was per capita players in the NFL. Florida has the most by a wide margin.

yeah, the films we have on rivals and the other sites are pretty much worthless. One needs to remember these are the highlights only. If you watch an entire game, you can at least tell if a kid has a motor that doesn’t stop or will slack off on plays. You can also see where the kid makes mistakes and if you believe those are treatable.

Iron sharpens iron. If Nash was playing in houston, maybe he sits for years behind a blue-chipper and quits to wrestle. If he was playing in California maybe he blows up and becomes a stud because of the nutrition, workout regimen, and competition. The fact that he isn't being driven to his limits by competition means he going to have to go through that at NU before he will play. Hence sitting for a while. The modern limits in terms of time with players, practice, workout and meeting time means that sitting and waiting is just not good enough anymore. Guys that are ready are going to advance much quicker than guys who have to "develop". The fact that Bama has 9 true freshman playing at a high level tells me kids need to see the field asap.

They watch highlight videos for the most part. Take most opinions on this board with a grain of salt. There is a guy or two who get to watch some high profile recruits multiple times due to their location and I value their opinion of those guys.

looks as close to a lock as possible for 4 star WRs A Brown (is 100% Huskers 3 crystal balls all added tonight and 0% for anyone else) and Marcus Fleming (he has 90% Huskers vs 10% undecided: 6 total crystal balls?). 4 star DB/S Jaiden Francois has 60% Huskers vs 40% Miami. The Huskers ones where added today around 10 pm and the Miami ones are a few months ago. I’d have to guess we get the WRs for sure and Francois will be a close call...but ends up being a Husker (and hes an early enrollee on top of it all). ;)

edited: from what I can tell Jaiden Francois and A Brown are both early enrollees too. So that’s even bigger...

You don't know that about this kid. This one IMO is a little different. You have to know where he's coming from to understand the mentality and how tough this kid is. He'll be ready to compete physically when he steps on campus and he'll do nothing but get bigger and stronger now that he won't have to diet to wrestle.

my guess now is he struggles at NG and ends up killing it as an OG for us. That’s my early prediction.

I don't think he will struggle at whatever position they put him at. I don't normally pump sunshine about recruits. This one will be different IMO. THIS kid is THAT guy that we always seemed to miss out on that went elsewhere and ended up as a pro bowler in the NFL. I have him as my most undervalued guy in this class. Must get or he'll kick our *** as a DT for somebody east of us for the next 4 years.

that wouldn’t surprise me either. Maybe I’m just hoping it goes that way because we could use him at OG too. 24/7 had him a 92 ranked OG before he committed and now he’s a 90 ranked 4 star DT. Top that off the Wisconsin Vadgers wanted him badly as an OG but didn’t like he as a DT/NG. We will see how this plays out with him. He’s got a high motor and he’s a hard worker. Dudes just a flat out beast none the less. Scott Frost, Stone Cold Greg Austin and Chin will put him where he helps the team the best...believe that.

Recruiting is also weird in states like Texas, where kids have weight training and coaching that close to maximizes them before theyeven hit college.

Very true. Highlight tapes have little value to coaches. Coaches evaluate entire games and it is for that reason that coaches must pick and choose who they go after. There just isn't time to evaluate everyone.
