The team is short on B1G level talent and depth. They do appear worn down. New coach and nearly all new players. I hoped for them to be on the bubble this season and it looks that way. The losses at Maryland and PSU were bad.

The whole point of calling you out was that your little tantrum wasn’t just outrageous and juvenile, it was objectively inaccurate. But please, continue showcasing that unique blend of confidence and cluelessness. Watching you posture without a trace of awareness is almost educational.

Fran fade alive and well. Ben you and your coaches need to spend some of your own cash because Iowa sure isn’t helping with NIL. Where the hell is Beth? At least Barta was very good at raising money.

Leave me out of this! ;)

Penn is in 3rd place, by the way, after yesterday's match up of geniuses! :)

Iowa has approximately 3.5 TIMES more NIL money this year than last year.

Yes, 3.5 TIMES more this year.

I really hope that one day total player compensation is public record. How much is the university paying each rostered player (from the $20.5M total in revenue sharing)? How much in additional NIL is each receiving (from boosters, etc)?

Since players are not considered employees, the info is kept private.

What's crazy is you can find out what every professional player (NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL) gets paid. And college athletes are now clearly professionals.

And then add on top of that the value of free tuition, free books, free food, free housing, free athletic training, free tutoring, etc.

The numbers would likely make us all want to puke.

Where did you see that?

It was pretty well known or generally agreed upon that Iowa Basketball NIL was around $1.2 - $1.5 million in 2024-25.

In 2025-26, Iowa Basketball was set to receive $3 million of the university’s $20.5 total distribution. Reports have been that NIL donations have gone up (a lot) since the hiring of McCollum, so it’s safe to assume Iowa Basketball’s NIL is a minimum of $4.5 million this year. Probably quite a bit more than that.

I don’t have any concrete figures, but 3.5 times the amount would be a conservative estimate.

Heard Jirak and Joey matteoni on hawktalk last nite.
Joey was surprised that Ben opted to take him with him to drake last year as a d2 recruit.
Then suddenly,he is at Iowa making maybe 100k?
Jirak was signed to uni..then Ben gets Iowa job and he is at Iowa getting..200k?

Bennett Stirtz has to be close to a million, and worth it.
That still leaves 4 million for the rest of roster.
When Ben got the Iowa job, these guys hit the lottery ( not saying they would not get good money elsewhere).

Alvaro and hausen probably got good chunks.
Hope Peyton mccullum did not get paid much...sorry but his dad is doing well now

I hate parsing it out like this but nba- lite is here and examination of ROI is part of that deal

Not enough is it.

Needs to be doubled if $4.5M gets you a .500 record in B10 play.

Tip: You won't catch a lot of fish with this method. Change baits, and slow down the trolling speed.

Beth Goetz on where Iowa men’s basketball stands in terms of roster-building funds: “We’re not looking to put together a roster that’s going to have a $17 million line item on it. That’s not, I think, who we are going to be here at Iowa. But do we need to be in a competitive space where he (Ben McCollum) can go and pick up the pieces that he needs to be successful? Absolutely.”

The end of the bench guy Matteoni should not be getting close to 100K. Insane. Jirak possibly could become a role player at some point in his career but even 200K for a guy like him is way to much.

Fookers messed up my hair.

Ivy Madness is the 4-team Ivy League tournament to decide the league's NCAA tourney representative. My Quakers are 8-5 in the Ivy League, 15-11 overall.

Just doing the math.
5 million between 10 - 11 guys?
Stirtz is getting a good chunk deservedly so.
If the 3 true frosh make beans that leaves quite a bit for koch, alvaro combs, banks, cam and hausen.
Crazy.
