I was tired of hockey and MLS highlights this morning so I tuned in to FSN to get their take on the tourney. Low and behold the second the channel switched the topic on the bottom of the screen said...is Cal one of the greatest coaches of all times? Some bald dude(didn't recognize him) was spouting off about comparing him to Wooden, Rupp, Krysewooski, etc. Said once he thought about it Cal wouldn't even break his top 25...then goes deeper by saying how he left a "mess" at Umass and then again at Memphis with vacated wins. I mean really...when does it stop? Both instances, even though on Cal's watch, had nothing at all to do with him! Both were on the particular individuals...no recruiting violations, no real black eyes for Cal himself! Rant over!!! Haters gonna hate...Go Big Blue!!!!!

When?

Who cares.

Because if Coach Cal stays at UK for another 10 years, my belief is he will become the greatest coach of all time.

I'd love to hear the 25 coaches ahead of him.

People need to realize talking heads know very little. They don't follow it like us. They don't do research. They have very little knowledge and then try to use that and pass off their opinion as credible. Honestly a lot of analysts talking about sports especially when it comes to us is like me being in a conversation about cars. I don't know anything about cars and have very little to offer.

Some random guy who obviously is not very informed on the topic takes the lazy way out? Obviously has an agenda or is just trying to stir up something. Don't give them any recognition or credit. Ignoring them will cause them to fade away.

I know somebody will say the "low post count" thing and call you a troll, but I won't do it. The heading of "fox sports analyst" will make them think you have some kind of "agenda" I'm just kidding but someone will. Analysts and reporters will always try and tear down success in someone way shape or form. Change can be a tough pill to swallow ask geno or anyone that played on the 1976 Hoosiers team. Haters gonna hate. We know it's unfair to compare a coach, still coach to legends who are dead and gone and benjermain button.

Reply to Blueblood_77 " The key words in your post are "even though on Cals watch". I followed that case from beginning to end and felt Memphis handled it very poorly.

If they had only waited till Rose's SAT test was settled this wouldn't have happened. Rose would not cooperate and they ruled him ineligible retro-active The NCAA findings were that somebody else took the test for Rose. Also they found that Rose's brother was traveling with the team on road games. "that is a no no. Who is responsible for that I don't know, but like you said it was on Cal's watch. . I'm aware that the Clearinghouse give Rose the green light to play., but that doesn't mean you can violate the rules again and not be penalized. Its sorta like the IRS, if you make a mistake on your income tax return and they catch it later you will still have to pay for it.

I would think the coach or compliance director would know whether the #1 recruit had passed his SAT test.. You can't use the " I didn't
know excuse for everything. I always like to use the public utility's slogan "call before you dig" which will save you headaches later.

Well, you didn't pay close attention apparently. Reggie Rose was found to have paid for his flights (which was not a violation) except for one time which was discovered after an audit and he paid for it. The NCAA never proved he didn't take his SAT. They even brought in handwriting experts who could not figure it out. Rose hadn't responded so they made the decision because of that.

Nothing was ever proven though.

Blue blood you have no idea what your talking about. Rose was cleared not once but twice by the NCAA, hell he was not even committed to UM when he took the test the last time.

As far as people flying with the team being a no no, lol , UM had special offers for people to fly on the charter planes with the team. It was not like Reggie was the only family member or fan who had that option.

Once it was found out that Reggie still owed for 2 trips , he paid. Not even a issue.

The NCAA a year after Rose left got some information that Rose may or may not of taken his test, they decided to investigate.
ROSE choice to tell the NCAA to Foff. Rose had already been drafted ,and was not interested in the NCAA and what they knew or didn't know.

This falls on Rose and his brother. If Rose had to sit his frosh , or go over seas , no way he goes number 1 in draft. That's worth millions. Even 3 spots on that draft board will cost you millions.

UM and Cal did everything they could , even 2 self investigation before admitting Rose after receiving 2 clearance letters from the NCAA.

If Cal and UM had not played Rose then he could of sued them for messing with his draft status. Not sure what else UM COULD OF DONE MORE?

Rose and his brother are responsible for this out come. If Rose had went and interviewed with the NCAA instead of giving them the finger , it all probably would of been minor. Instead the NCAA took a great run away from a school and players based on no solid proof, and out of anger.

All was a complete joke and clearly biased.

Anyone can say anything.. Then there'e the facts.. Fact's always win.. The facts say coach Cal is one of the best ever and he coach's our team.. We're blessed.. Anytime your the best, there's gonna be critics.. It really for me just makes it that much sweeter when we win..
