That's my guess as to why Fox responded the way he did. Cal probably asked him to hold off so they could all do a joint press conference like in recent years... fact that it leaked today goes against that wish.

Fox was an amazingly gifted player who did a terrific job running that team. To almost get to the Final Four is a great accomplishment. Best wishes to D Fox!

Rothstein's original tweet said, "per a source."

There was a time when two sources were required to run with a story.

You would definitely need to reach out to Fox for his statement.

Now "journalists" tweet out every rumor whispered in their ear. Then everyone else runs with it.

Not saying Rothstein is wrong, but I don't think he's the guy that someone close enough to Fox to know this would leak info to first.

I was surprised at how much I grew to respect and like Fox by year end. Ended up being one of my favorite Cats. That interview of he and Bam crying in the locker room after UNC - I know it's 2017 and in internet-land everyone is a cynical *** and so he took some grief, but in my eyes he grew in stature....

Even if this is fake I'm sure he's leaving.I loved watching him play here and I'll keep watching him in the NBA.

Kind of annoying for hotshot rothstein to scoop an obvious thing that's coming soon. He probably got somebody to say "no ****" just to "honor" actually having a source, and ran with it.

De'Aaron Fox is one of my favorite guards. I loved to watch him play. I wish we could have him another year; however, he cannot turn down what he is going to get for signing with the NBA. I wish him the best and hope that he will always be a "visible" Cat. GO CATS!!

Well one of these days one of these guys will sacrifice the millions to help us win a championship. One of these days maybe if Cal doesn't get in the way that is.
The fans are about winning championships and the coach is about putting players in the NBA. There's a disconnect there in my opinion.
For me I say **** the NBA. All the NBA does is rob Kentucky of its chances to win championships every damn year

The way he finished the season his draft stock did nothing but go up. Would love to see him drafted very high but that only means he will be going to a very bad team too unless there are some trades made by the time the draft day gets here. Of course, he might have more of a chance to really see lots of minutes with a lower level team but just not a whole lot of team success. Excited for Fox.
