The value of the NFL running back just keeps dropping and dropping. Plus, something has been up with his relationship with Jacksonville for the past year.

Don’t draft rb’s in the first round. High risk and low reward compared to production from later round rb’s.

Belichick already has a stud RB and a dynamic two way back. I don't know that they would break the bank for Fournette.

What “stud RB” are you talking about? Michel averaged 3.7 YPC last year and doesn’t get used at all out of the backfield in the passing game. Fournette has the same career YPC, with a much worse supporting cast, and is a much better receiver than Michel ever thought about being.

Meanwhile.. $90M guaranteed to Zeke.

And to that end....

2019 Zeke:
1777 total yards from scrimmage (5.0 yards per touch)

2019 Fournette:
1674 total yards from scrimmage (4.9 yards per touch)

That is why Dak needs to get the hell out of Dallas. Teams that are that poorly managed don’t win Super Bowls.

Very few teams win superbowls. Not sure I'd advise to give up the endorsement opportunities that come with being the cowboys QB to go chase a superbowl with say the equivalent of the Chiefs.

The endorsements are a two way street. Dak gets them because he’s a good player and will get them wherever he goes. But yes, if endorsements are literally the only thing he cares about, then he should probably stay in Dallas. I think you and everyone on this board knows that’s not the case with him, though.

And Dak ain't exactly Mahomes.

So many people think some offense is the reason for success of this team or that team, but good players can make a lot of schemes look good. It's some of both, but more the player/fundamentals than the scheme.

Dak needs to stay where he's at.

Dak will be just fine where he's at. Super Bowl or not.

I'm sure if that's what he wanted to fight for he could risk finding a new team, and a better managed team. But at the end of the day his job is about making money, and it won't last forever, so I would advise him to stay with the team/situation that makes him the most money at this time. I just really hope Dak is managing his money well because in another 3-4 years he will have generational wealth even if he hangs up the cleats at that time. Which we all know he won't.

My team didn't fare so well last season. Who would the pack choose as a keeper with this roster? We get a point for each reception in this league, Fournette did me good last season.

I don’t know how much of a future Fournette has anymore. Jacksonville spent all offseason trying to trade him, and couldn’t get a deal done. Im sure he will sign somewhere. But seems like his best days are behind him.

You could almost make the same case for Sony Micheal at this point.

Easy to see why your team didn’t do so hot last year**

Several good options at WR to keep. Chark, Woods and OBJ. If it was me, I’d probably keep Gurley though. I don’t think you got anyone on that list that is going to be a 1st or 2nd round pick. I do think Gurley will have a chance at a decent season. Give you a good RB 2/3 option and let you take a couple WRs early.

He will get them where ever he goes, but does say Carson Wentz get comparable money to Dak in endorsements? Just a quick google search indicates Dak gets about five times as much, although maybe that's dated info on Wentz (or possibly comparing a yearly average to committed contracts; didn't look closely). Some of that is certainly that Dak is charismatic, but some of it is presumably Dallas QB is just a more marketable gig.

After thinking about it, I realized maybe I was wrong about how many teams in the NFL win superbowls. Looking at it, it looks like ten different teams have won superbowls in the last twelve years, so over 30% of the league has won a superbowl over what would be a reasonable guess as to the likely length of Dak's remaining career if everything goes well for him. So if 30% of the teams can be expected to win a superbowl over the rest of his career, then he probably would meaningfully increase his changes if he went somewhere that is better managed.

Fournette had the best season of his career just last season. Jacksonville is blowing it up and never had any intention of signing him to a long term deal after Coughlin left the front office, as they seem to be going to more of a pass-heavy identity. That seems to be most of the reason why the release happened.

If you’re going to look beyond just this year, I’d go Woods, Chark, or Metcalf. Hopefully you get to see where Fournette lands before you have to decide.

Even last year, he only broke 90 yards rushing in 4 games last year. I know Jags offense, etc..

I just don't know if the market is really there at $4MM+ a year. He can take a haircut and likely sign with a number of teams.

James White, Jordan Howard, and Tevin Coleman are all making $4 million per year or more. The market is definitely there at $4 million, and likely higher. I could easily see a team giving him $8-$10 million per year for 3 years if he’s physically ready (not sporting some unknown injury or condition).

I’d bet no one traded for him though because they knew Jax was gonna release him anyway, and he could be acquired without giving up draft picks in that scenario. They straight up telegraphed that move to the whole league way back in May when they declined the team option. For other teams, it makes no sense to mortgage the future on a guy who’s heading into a contract year anyway, where you have to turn right around and pay up or tag him. It’s way more team friendly to sign and extend him from the open market.

I think I would keep Chark or Metcalf...Gurley is in Atlanta and may do well, but may get bogged down in a RB by committee. I had Woods and it was a blah season for me. I like Chark and Metcalf because they are clearly the best options for their teams for the future.

Michel was injured a lot last year and shares a lot of time with other backs - and especially loses snaps to James White. Michel doesn't lose third down reps because he can't catch the ball - he loses them because they have James White. It would be the same thing for Fournette.

How is the keeper set up? For instance, ours is 2 spots above where you drafted the year before, for a max of 3 years. So depends where you would get each player on who you should keep.
