We lose in a tie breaker

We finish with Bama, and Mizzou.
Don't know who the others have.

Need to finish out with a win tomorrow.

The regular season goals for baseball have to be ranked: (1) host a super regional and (2) win the SEC championship. The SECT is great to win but can almost be a distraction.

For an SEC championship. That’s about as important as a CWS appearance. It’s a true conference championship, more important than a tournament championship

We are already a Super host barring a major meltdown. As in we’d have to lose both of our last two series against below average teams.

Nobody remembers who wins the NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL, NCAAMB, or any other regular season crown.... Superbowl, World Series, NBA Finals, Stanley Cup, and Final Four champs go to Disney World.... Regular season champs make have nice banquets in the off-season.

Omaha or bust baby.

It’s baseball. Again it’s not guaranteed. Keep winning and we guarantee a Super. I’m saying if Arkansas wins out I don’t give a ****. Move up the Super rankings. I’m all in for a SEC title but I’ll trade it all day for a CWS and Natty. Maybe I wasn’t clear. Sorry

Most of those don’t have a regular season crown and people most assuredly remember and hang banners for Final Fours they don’t win. Conference championships in college sports matter.

^^^THIS ALL DAY^^^

At this point in the season with the spot we are in we need to try to win every game until either we lose or we win the College World Series.

Tiebreaker for what? SEC tourney seeding? Can’t say I care about that.

You should, because it's what determines the true champion and NCAA seeding as well. We're basically tied for third right now. We need to get the top overall seed. Easiest path.

Winning the regular season SEC title, even just a share of it with someone else, is a huge deal. We’ve only done it once since 1989.

It doesn’t have the prestige of making it to Omaha because the postseason gets all the attention, but it is much harder to do.

SEC Tourney seeding means absolutely nothing, there are no tiebreakers in a shared title situation. We would be officially recognized as a champion even if we are the 3 or 4 seed.

Our fans need to get over themselves if they are too proud to claim a shared title if it comes down to it. We all want to win it outright, but if we are tied for first, we are still SEC champions.

Again, how huge is the blown Vandy game on Sunday a couple of weeks ago and not being able to take just one vs Arkansas at home?
That would have put us up 1 or 2 games overall.

Yep. OM claims and SEC championship in 2009. 12 years later, no one remembers that they actually tied with LSU and lost the regular season series to them.

If we tie with Vandy or Arkansas, we’re going to claim the sucker, and a graphic is going up. Everyone who doesn’t like that can get over it.

You are simply wrong. Despite the tiebreaker for SEC tourney seeding, the co-champions are co-champions. There isn’t the co-champion that lost the tiebreaker and the true champion that won the tiebreaker. There are just co-champions.

And it doesn’t determine NCAA seeding either. Is this your first season as a fan? We won the outright championship in 2016 and were the 3rd highest seeded SEC team in the NCAA tournament.

We need to get the top overall seed? Says who? You? Easiest path to what? The top overall seed is not a predictor of winning the CWS. In 21 years, the top overall seed has won the CWS once. It was 1999, the first year there was a top national seed, so zero times in 20 years has the top overall seed won the CWS.

So no, I don’t care what our seed is in Hoover.

There isn’t a tiebreaker for the regular season championship. For example, if we tie with Arkansas, they are co-champions, and we are co-champions. The tiebreaker is for seeding in Hoover.

Sorry, but you don't get to decide who the "true" champion(s) is. That's the SEC's right. And the SEC recognizes all teams who tie for the best record in the conference as champions. See page 32 of the SEC Record Book.

It’s amazing how many people seem to think we have to choose between playing for an SEC regular season title and playing for Omaha. If we’re a top-8 seed with the second best record in the conference, we’re a top-8 seed as SEC champions.

I think that for 20+ years we never won one, these people kept telling themselves an SEC championship isn’t a big deal until they finally started believing it. Of course, they just look ridiculous. An SEC championship is a big 17ing deal.

Yeah that doesn’t make any sense at all.
It is true that the last MSU team to win the SEC did not make Omaha, but there’s no causation there. It’s also true that as good as that team was, the prevailing memory of that team is failing to get to Omaha. So maybe if you have to choose between SEC champ and Omaha, you’d choose Omaha, but... Most times the SEC Champ is going to do both.

There was a string of a few years in the 2010s where it didn’t happen, but yes, most of the time the SEC Champ is an Omaha team barring a huge upset in the Regional or Super Regional rounds.
