Good call on Eagle Rare, great whiskey.Maker's Mark was hard to get a couple years ago at some places.
A little more expensive is eagle rare. Both are great for making Manhattans. Eagle rare has a little bit more bite or flavor to it.

Never thought of it. Actually the joke could be on them. I might just drink it before!Well, then don't ever croak!
Can't remember if eagle rare is whisky or whiskeyGood call on Eagle Rare, great whiskey.
Thanks for the heads up!!A great value is Weller. It from the Buffalo Trace line and can be found cheap. Also try to get your hands on Henry McKenna. It can be found for under $30 and has won the best bourbon in the world a year or two ago.
Sounds like a great story and hilarious!Never thought of it. Actually the joke could be on them. I might just drink it before!
They know i have it and I have to guard it with my life. Kind of an inside thing between us.

If Pennsy was here he would remind you that Old Grand Dad was Joe Paterno’s drink of choice.I picked up Eligah s/barrel @ Hy Vee off 132nd, Omaha for 19.95. Also snagged a bottle of 100 proof Old Grandad. Same price. The clerk said those were the last 2 in stock. 2 customers all but cleaned them out.
Plenty of OG 114 @ 23.00$. I'm really liking the taste of rye bourbon. We visited for Thanksgiving & HyVee is quite a store when you're from Stickville, WV.
The Bourbon Trail is only 150 miles away, I'll need to make another tour.
Better than old crowIf Pennsy was here he would remind you that Old Grand Dad was Joe Paterno’s drink of choice.
Better by a lot, but the Joe Pa thing was a deal breaker for me.Better than old crow

Wild turkey is a little too hot for me. Try a wild turkey surprise. Turkey, squirt and a couple drops of tobasco. Sounds terrible but not badWild Turkey has always been my go to. Just interested in looking at something a little more upscale?
Your description makes me feel like a newbie and I probably really am!! I will often have Evan Williams or Canadian Club on ice. Below their price points, I don't even bother.
Hoping for a good opinion....
PS... @Pennsyhusker I love your opinions man... if you want to reach out id be grateful!
My favorite analogy for Evan Williams is that it’s the K-State of Bourbon. It has no business being as good as it is.I'm a relative newbie myself, just really enjoy trying them and even more so visiting the distilleries. My go to's are Woodford Reserve and and Maker's Mark, was first exposed to both while touring the distilleries. I recently started dabbling in scotch as well, but still prefer bourbon as scotch can be a bit peaty for me taste.
Re: Evan Williams, it is a bourbon that comes in above its cost. It's certainly not a complex bourbon, but it isn't intended to be at its price. I always have a bottle of Evan on hand for mixing and if I don't want to drink one of my more expensive options.
