These former players better not mess up next years college football video game release. They’re not getting any money. NIL wasn’t legal then. They tried this already. The O’bannon brothers didn’t get any money. Rather their case opened the door to the NIL ect going forward now. So I guess we can blame the O’bannon brothers for ultimately destroying Mississippi State football.

Ah, college reparations now . . .

All we need now is to start having athletes sue college teams for CTE. (And if you the Google hard enough, you'll see the class action lawsuits already trolling for participants.)

Several former Michigan players, including Braylon Edwards and Denard Robinson, also are suing for the same thing. If they win their lawsuits, I can’t even imagine what the impact would be.

Extremely promiscuous, insecure hot teachers with not enough alpha males to go around, apparently.

Meanwhile, if we had NIL 20 years ago, obviously it would've been for far less money, and more hands dipping into that pool would've stunted the growth of the game.
I can't imagine it would've just been lower coach/staff salaries...I'm guessing smaller stadiums, less amenities for players, etc.

Also, the judge in the house v ncaa settlement case, pretty much told the ncaa their portion of the settlement was NOT good enough.

Thursday we will see the ncaa response. Will the ncaa remove the restrictions on collectives? Or will the ncaa hold their ground and go to trial?

the ncaa offered $3billion in back pay for lost nil and $21 million per school, going forward to current and future athletes for 10 years.

If the ncaa goes to trial and loses, some estimate they (actually the schools) could face damages of $20 billion on this case alone.

Guys you are thinking about this all wrong. Really good players will demand the most from NIL reparations so we'll owe, what, a few hundred dollars? Meanwhile other SEC schools will be out 10s of millions.

We could come out smelling like a rose!

Problem is this. There are no official financial contracts in place. Yes some schools have private contracts in place. But for the rest, it's basically it's whatever seems fair value in a dispute settlement.

Most likley future payouts from the March Madness deal with CBS. $900M per year, tickets to tournaments (NCAA basketball mostly) and sponsorships, just over $1B per year distributed as shown below:

Stupidest crap ever. This is would be akin to MLB and NFL players who were around before free agency suing for lost wages because there was no free agency when they played. People are absolutely selfish, greedy pigs.

As Many here know I have often written about the historic financial imbalance to the athlete in the NCAA. HOWEVER, I don't think anyone who played under the old system is entitled to anything. (Especially someone who cheated in the old system). This would be like Jerry Jones bought the Cowboys for 140 million in 1989 from Bum Bright. They are now worth over 10 BILLION. Can Bum Bright sue Jerry since he is making so much more money than Bum Bright was making?

The court needs to throw all this stuff out. This is just Lawyers trying to make something out of nothing.
