I think as you get older you for what ever reason get a little more emotional. For all the fb games I have attended thought it was really cool, at least in years gone by. Now to be at Kinnick at the end of the quarter its still cool but practically brings a tear to my eyes. And then you hear about this Kid Captain from last year and what he went through and what has happened. If this is not the best moment of honoring its got to be close. Rest in peace Hawkeye Fan Aiden.
Toughest lose there is, is to lose a child. Many, many prayers for the family.

Absolutely- the game of life at such a young age tears my heart out… the real battle is for these kids fighting for their lives- not on the gridiron but in the hospital praying they can live one more day at times… that one stung hearing that and god bless his family as my heart goes out to them. He will be in a much better place either way
For those who are unaware, Kelby Telander was a Kid Captain in 2009 and now plays on the Iowa football team. Look for him on special teams.
My son was in the Children's Hospital when he was 16 with leukemia. He's now 35 and healthy thanks to the amazing doctors and nurses!
At 16 he was obviously the oldest one there. To see infants and toddlers hooked up to IV poles was so heartbreaking!
The Wave and Kid Captain are two wonderful things to bring some happiness to those kids that really need it.

Agree, as a parent can't even begin to imagine what the family has/is going through. And once again that is why the end of the first quarter of Iowa home games really tugs at me. Has to be the best tradition, bar none.That's not how these stories are supposed to end.
