For those concerned about baseball recruiting

I went over to PG and looked at the ‘23 and beyond classes. These will be Lemonis’ classes. There are a lot of 9.5’s and 9’s, with a few 10s mixed in. 10 rated players most likely won’t make it to school, but there are exceptions.

What really stood out was how we have gone into the backyards of good baseball schools to get these commits. There are 2 or 3 highly rated kids in different classes from Rowdey’s old school, Auburn h.s. Multiple kids from TX, Fla, Ga, AL, LA and CA. NC and SC are represented also but what really stood out was CA and Fla. Those are talent rich states with a lot of good options in between Starkville and their homes that they could have picked. I saw a picture on twitter of a kid and his parents all in State gear at this weekends game, but I couldn’t find him on a commit list and I’ve forgotten his name now. He was highly touted and from Tallahassee though.

Bottom line, those classes are rated very high at this point and I think those that are worried about our and Lemonis’ ability to recruit can relax a little bit. Some concern might be warranted over how the portal was handled this past season, but I think Lemonis can win his share of recruiting battles.

PG ratings are pretty bogus minus the obvious draft guys.

I'm somewhat ignorant on baseball recruiting and scouting, but it always seemed to me that baseball recruiting hinged on getting commitments from kids that were likely to actually play. Getting commitments from a half dozen elites draft picks is pointless.

it is all good about recruiting. But how do you coach them once they get here. To me his in game Coaching isn't very good. We can't bunt-we have numerous base running blunders. just last weekend we looked crappy on a run down situation. Our scoring runners in scoring position was awful. sometimes we throw to the wrong base.He has been awful in when to go to the bullpen. It seems strange to me -all the arm injuries--is that also a Coaching problem? Which pitchers have we brought in that got better as the year progressed? i read where some of the arm problems were because of mechanics---isn't that something a Coach can fix? Then you have attitude--do our players get tougher when they get here. Being at Ricks on friday night after a game -intoxicated. isn't a good look.
