We have a new head coach, a new offense, and changed our defensive scheme. We lost our starting QB, top 2 WR’s, starting Left Tackle to the NFL. On top of that, our projected best returning WR (Simms) transferred out. What exactly did any of you expect? Rodriguez also struggled at 3-8 and lost to Temple his first year here. It takes 3-4 years for most new coaches to get the right players for their system. I think we’ll be fine

Funny, the same people gave Holgorsen 0 years, even though he won 10 the first.

ISU didn't need 3-4 yrs. Purdue didn't need 3-4 years.

Its an excuse. WVU wasn't a 3-4 win team last year--won 8 just last year, 10 in 2016 and were in contention for a BIG 12 championship just last year.

Thats where WVU should be moving on from, not starting over like they've never played football before. Its pretty clear the coaches have no clue since every aspect of the game is awful now.

First, I'll agree with you about the Holgorsen dislike. This was coming from the donors as well as some of the fans. The reasons are various but irrelevant now.

However, I disagree with your last contention. I'll use a couple of examples as evidence.

First, lets look at Georgia Tech. GT, under Paul Johnson, ran and recruited for the wishbone. Under Johnson, GT was pretty successful running that wishbone - probably without looking at least as successful record wise as DH was. Now that Johnson has retired, should the new coach be required to run the wishbone also? And be more successful at it than Johnson? Or should he have the right to establish and run his own system?

Using your logic, its the former and not the latter.

Second, lets look at Virginia Tech. When Beamer retired, Justin Fuente came in. Almost every talking head and magazine had Fuente as the best coaching hire of the year - a can't miss winner who would lead the Hokies to the promised land sooner rather than later. He came in the first year and took the Hokies to 10 wins and an appearance in the ACC championship game. But look at the Hokies today - losing to FCS teams, half the team transferring out, another large contingent trying to lose so they don't have to play in a bowl game, and ticket sales the lowest in modern memory. So, did Fuente forget how to coach? Is he a worse coach now than he was just a few years ago when he was winning 10 games?

Using your logic, Fuente is a winner because of what he did that first season taking the Hokies to a better record than Beamer did the previous year.

See now where you are wrong?

Using your opinion as a template, RRod was a failure. Stunk it up even worse than Nehlen his first year...

I think what you don't understand is our offensive scheme looks very boring. A lot of meaningless movement (motion by WR) and not any attacking. Our running game stinks, and sorry but JMU and Missouri aren't exactly world beaters and our OL has gotten whipped both games. Running the ball has a lot to do about pride at this level. We have big, strong guys up front....the other team has big, strong guys up front.
