Question marks on this team aside I really love this team on paper... there's so much talent just waiting to break out... what is everyone excited about on this team?

I think we’ll finally commit to getting Kylin the ball this year in both the running and passing games, and I think he can have a huge year if so. There is zero excuse to not get him the ball more now that we don’t have the best rushing QB in SEC history anymore.

I want to see involvement from the TE position. Flex Spivey out and let him embarrass a LB or S. It's time. Mullen sucked.

Cumbest. If he can catch he will be a bad ***. The dude play out field in baseball. He can run and he is big.

I’m excited to see what I think will be a better representation of a JoMo offense. Don’t get me wrong... I’m not expecting a 500 yd/game air raid, but I am confident that we’ll be better at getting chunks of yards, and general frustration with the offense will hopefully be limited

That said, I will say say that if we start the season with a sputtering offense, inaccurate throws, and ineffective use of our RBs, my opinion is going to go south in a hurry. I’d also be lying if I said that I wasn’t a little concerned about looking pretty inept during the spring scrimmage, and our hopeful savior has attempted 41 passes in his 3-yr career

What should be the best and most experienced offensive line we've had in years.

No idea how to set an expectation for the rest of the offense. What kind of qb play will we get? Will receiver play be improved? But ultimately whatever success we have starts upfront. I think we are solid there so that's a good first step.

We're looking a little young in the middle of the D line. Other than that I think we've got a shot.

I'm excited to see JoMo's offense develop. I'm only expecting about 7 wins, but I think the season will be entertaining. I enjoy the X's and O's of football and I'm looking forward to some surprises.

This feels sort of like 2009 and 2010 to me, where we were just looking for improvement.

As said above, though, it won't take much for me to abandon ship.

I’m going in with low expectations. Would love to be surprised.

This has always been my philosophy. Unfortunately I went against my better judgement and bought into the hype at the beginning of last season. I won't make that mistake aGAIN, and I hope to be pleasantly surprised.

Back in the day, I used to get really frustrated with my dad during the off-season because while I’d be reading Athlon cover to cover and talking myself into a 10-win season, he’d rarely get too worked up over expectations. Even when we’d be having a pretty solid season, he was almost always waiting for the bottom to drop out

Fast forward about 25-30 years, and needless to say... I now fully understand why

Going to take something abnormal to get me fired up again, not just 'returning starters' or what not like last year or 2014. 2014 was fun but we all saw that Alabama gut-punch coming. This year has me intrigued because we will see more of what Moorhead wants to do, plus the addition of Tommy TD and the K-State receiver. I still realize that 8-4 is about max.

More and more I think about it, 2010 was more of our missed chance year. After listening to MTS podcast, I am thinking that Mullen probably messed up Cam coming here more than we think. If I remember correctly it was him that was the main thing getting in the way of us sealing that deal. We needed something like that to level the playing field yet still keep us as the 'underdog'.

Moorhead doesn’t want that. I expect us to throw the ball over 50% next year.

I’d be pretty surprised if that’s the case. I anticipate around a 53/47 run pass ratio... not a huge difference but still running the ball more often. Against SEC defenses, running the ball is of utmost importance imo.

Was there any conclusion to the argument that it was primarily Fitz sandbagging the offense by making the wrong reads? Not knocking Fitz because he's a helluva athlete and a serviceable QB, but I'd like to think that's the reason we had so much trouble putting points on the board.

I don't know enough about it. I'm looking for a ray of hope though that eventually JoMo's O will eventually work.

I don't think we will challenge for the West, but I think we are going to be better on offense than anyone on here thinks. Solid OL, deep RB, WR, Slot and TEs that can catch and a couple of "options" at QB.

It was easy to set a defense against us last season... just key 9 of your guys on the running QB that does not have a mid or deep threat. He is going for the quick, short pass or run, more likely, run.

I also think we will not be as bad as everyone thinks on the defensive side. We lost top talent, but they did not play every down, we had and will have some guys who can play pretty damned good and actually have the same coach again.

My biggest concern is the kicking game and special teams, but other than that I feel like we will win 8 and might beat that if we get a few breaks for a change. The schedule is certainly a different factor as well. We don't play LSU in the second or third game this time.

I am looking forward to the season more than ever this year for personal reasons. If I could have one wish that did not include my team, it would be to see the Crimson bubble finally burst and not be ready to just reload as usual.

I think it's gonna be a good college season this year and my favorite NFL teams (Chicago, Dallas, and New England in that order) should be competitive.

I think we’ll finish 8-4 with a shot at 9-3 if things go right.

I think maybe Moorhead has tweaked some things staff-wise and it’s year 2 for him. We also have a DC that has returned for the first time in forever.

Im looking forward to seeing Tommy, Zuber, and Hill. Those 3 having success will determine our season. Hopefully Zuber is the guy that fills the big drops and elevates the receiving core.

I want ant to see quick, snappy plays out of Tommy. Less hesitation will make me much happier this fall.

I feel like our secondary will be filthy and Willie Gay and Erroll are going to be so fun to watch.

I expect Stevens to throw more than we are used to because defenses give us that. Then I expect that we will be pretty balanced if we show we can catch and throw.

If the qb can tell what the defense is “giving away” just as the ball is snapped, we are going to have a fun year. Whether that means a lot of RB or QB runs I don’t know. Joes offense will be effective.

That was me and my Dad, except the roles were reversed. This will be my first season without him, and my moms first season in 25 years where they didn’t go to every home game. About this time every year Id be telling him how much so and so suck and he’d be taking up for them like they were his own kids. This is going to be tough.

He will be there in spirit brother. Maybe he can pull some strings and get us an extra W.

I don’t know if sandbagging is the right term. He just had no experience needing to read a defensive backfield under Mullen. He could read a defensive end on running play. He could deliver a great pass if Mullen called the play at the right time.

Without a spring practice the change was too abrupt.

The difference now SHOULD be that the qb decides where to distribute the ball based on what the defense is showing they are giving up. The wide receivers, running backs and tight ends have to be able to see these things too.

Imagine trying to be a tour guide in a town you’ve never been with a map that is written with language you don’t understand.

I believe the BIGGEST improvement will be in the red zone and we will score more points because opposing teams will have to defend more than the QB run.

People are bitching about our scoring in big games must not remember our play selection in the red zone.

QB keeper
Incomplete pass
QB keeper
missed FG

Unless we were inside of the 10-yard line, then it was...

QB keeper
QB keeper
QB Draw
FG

Any chance one of the 240-250 lb reserve linebackers can play with a hand in the turf at DE for us? Might add a little depth there if Kilby-Lane or Washington could move up in the line in certain situations with the Starting LBs also on the field.

You reasoned, like the rest of us that Joes offense was the missing ingredient to take our team from good to possibly great. We all watched the penn state highlights from 2017.

What we all failed to do was remember that we were asking our qb to recover from an injury, learn a system in 15 practice sessions and be ready to play 2 top 15 teams with very good defenses in the 1st 4 weeks of the season.

All things considered, the result wasn’t nearly that surprising.

Well said, sir. The problem with potential is we play in a league filled with potential. I’m pleased that we have potential, but I am not carried away with it. I am satisfied to to let the games be played out on the field not in the mind. Makes for a much less stressful Bulldog existence!

The shifts should be between DE and DT. We have plenty of defensive linemen, just not enough tackles. Shoop has to be able to find some of those ends that can play inside. We have plenty of ends.
