Totally agree. I'd rather see a 10 game conference schedule and all the risks
involved with not making a bowl. At least you'd get more bang for your buck. Bowl games and practices are way overrated. I mean, unless you're in the playoffs, no one cares. Players don't so why should fans? Just look at how many opt outs happen every year. To be completely honest, I had to rack my brain just then to remember which bowl game we even went to last year.

Yes. And I really meant on the tailgate front. We have made it harder and harder when thats as big of a draw as the game itself. But yes i think the conference as a whole is being short sighted on scheduling. I hope the tv rights next bidder forces their hand and says “we will pay you untold amounts of money but we have no interest in showing Arkansas vs. Georgia St at 11 am”
Exactly. If you add 2 conference games, that’s two games that are going to draw more interest than all but except maybe 2 or 3 of the non-CFP bowl game opponents.
Who here would be more excited about a game against Tulsa in Dallas or Miami OH in Tampa that we are only playing in because we eeked our way in at 6-6 / 5-7 with 3 patsy wins….as opposed to another home game every year against an East team not named Kentucky?
You make a great point. I say drop the schedule back to 11 games removing the FCS game. If we must keep the FCS game, make it an early season game and don't televise. So the kickoff time is at an optimal time of day and scheduled well in advance.

I don't begrudge anyone who feels like it's not worth the investment. I want to see the stadium full, but I respect that everyone has their own journey and their own priorities, and those priorities change as life evolves.
My decision to continue purchasing tickets is primarily based on the fact that even though it's expensive, it's really only seven games, and I'm probably going to throw away that amount of money on other stuff if I weren't doing this. I don't look at the seat license thing like you do....yes, it's an expense, but it also helps the university. We should all be giving what we can to the Bulldog Club.
Until I can retire and move there, I'm probably going to make 10 trips max to Vegas in a year. Most of them are in the fall. I get a lot of personal enjoyment out of it, and I've really enjoyed watching my kids grow up and fall in love with it too. There's a lot of sentimentality in that, too.
When we start winning and becoming an exciting team to watch these threads will go away. We aren’t a women’s basketball school or a baseball school. We are a “if you show us a good product we will come and hang off the rafters and beg people for tickets” school. We have one of the best fan bases in the country. No one can blame them for not wanting tickets during the past few years. If and when Mike Leach turns it around and we start becoming a fun team to watch the stadium will be packed, just like Omaha was packed with people driving 13 hours to see our baseball team play. I’m not saying our administration shouldn’t do things to improve our atmosphere but that is the main problem no matter what anyone on here says. When we are winning at a high level no one gives a **** what the cups smell like and they can all of a sudden come up with the money for season tickets.
Do you care most about how MSU is perceived nationally? Or is it more about your own entertainment?

I have no desire to sit in 90+ degree weather opening weekend to watch us hopefully pile drive a cupcake. The K State game 2 years ago was bad enough and they were a good team, definitely don't want any SWAC, S AL, Troy, etc in that weather.
We do that best by winning. Understand your point but scheduling isn't why fans lose interest, it's because we don't win enough. And you can say that 8-4 does not matter, well, you have to do that and build up to 10-2. So every win matters.
Pretty easy fix, just sell your tickets for that game, there are plenty of people (like me) who would pay face value for the less desired games.
If you are trying to make money above face value, such as your donation, then sell the Alabama or LSU game tickets too (preferably overpriced to stupid visiting fans) to make up for the loss of the cupcake game. You'll have about as equal level of fun in attending both games, in an average year. A win vs. a bad team vs. a blow-out loss vs. a good team.
Try popping out a few kids and see how difficult it becomes to justify that yearly season ticket purchase. The University is going to have to drop those season ticket prices over the next few years if they want people like me to continue buying them. It's that simple.
My wife and I used to attend most (if not all) of the home games. Now that we have kids, it's dropped to 3-4 a year and probably less. It's difficult and expensive to make the long drive and haul kids around an SEC Saturday. It will wear you out. It's more economical to buy secondary market tickets for the 2-3 games a year we now are able to attend. If I was single or retired, I'd be at every one with maroon pants and bells on..... and extremely drunk.

Nothing wrong with 2-3 games per year. That's all that should be expected of people in your shoes.
Another issue. The seats in the lower east and west sides are just damn uncomfortable. Especially when it used to be full.
The seating rows on the lower West side are the longest in the SEC, and sitting in the middle of one of them is just not worth it. I've measured this on google earth so it's fact. I assume it's because it was designed so long ago, but the steps are also too high. They just need to spend some money on addressing the older areas of the stadium if they want people to keep spending a fortune to come.

I’m out west now, but if I was still in MS I would hit up at least 4 games. Love everything about the atmosphere at a game. So much better then watching on tv
