It’s still crazy when I see him in Alanis Morrisette videos. When they played De Luna Fest, they ordered a ton of pizza for their hotel room and the delivery guy got tipped $800 on a $200 order by Taylor. He said he didn’t know if the band decided to tip that or not but Taylor gave him the bills and said have a great night.
According to the wikipedias, he was found unresponsive in his hotel room in Bogata', Columbia. Foo Fighters were touring South America. Sad. Great drummer and seemed to be an ever greater human. Once gave a pizza guy a $800 tip on a $200 order

Damn, was just listening to him the other day on the Foo Fighters satellite radio station, and he was talking about how close they came to ending the band before it ever really began.
Long story short, as talented as Hawkins was, he said it was really frustrating when he realized that Dave Grohl was basically better than everyone at their own instruments, including drums. They’d be in a practice session, and Dave would say that he didn’t like something and then literally walk over and show Taylor how he wanted it to be played. Anyway, he got sick of it one day, Dave told him that if he didn’t like it he could leave, and Taylor said 17 it, I’m done.
Thankfully, they made up a day or two later and the rest was history, but the Foo Fighters are one of the most talented rock bands from the last 25 years, and Hawkins was a big part of that. RIP man

Kid was always smiling whenever I saw him. I'm a big fan of Dave and his guys even if I don't know a ton of their songs, they always looked like they were having the greatest time which was a nice change from the broody rocker stereotype.
To add on what others have mentioned. The guy and group always seemed to be positive and enjoying what they were doing and the music they made. They were in BHM fall of '18 I think and regret not taking my son (then a freshman in HS) to see FF as his first concert. Was a Thursday night and his mom wasn't having any it on a school night. FF's have some awesome songs....My Hero being mentioned as Jamming loud to but I cranking up to Best Of You, Rope and Everlong.

They are one of my favorite bands. I got to see them in Memphis a few years ago. It was one of the best shows I have seen.
One of the songs that Dave Grohl wrote was On the Mend which was on the In Your Honor album and also on the Skin and Bones live album. He wrote that song when Taylor was in a coma due to a heroin overdose. I listened to that song again today and damn if those lyrics don't hit a lot harder.

I wasn't really a fan of Foo Fighters....but I didn't have to be to appreciate their talent, which is tremendous. Taylor Hawkins, specifically, was a very gifted technical drummer. I was talking about this with my son yesterday....but I never really considered Hawkins as someone who'd be on Drummers' Mt. Rushmore because I didn't listen to them much, but he's pretty close to up there in retrospect. An argument can be made that he's one of the best.
