“The QB room, we’re all really good friends... they’re a bunch of really good guys and we’re all working our tails off to be the best we can be for the team and pushing each other every day.”

“Adrian’s been far and above what I think a lot of people expect of a freshman... it’s been a really good thing to see —the competition between me, Bunch, Adrian and Noah Vedral ...”

“right now I throw about three times a week, watching film about every day, trying to prepare myself best for my team. I know Coach Frost is going to have a difficult decision to make here in a couple months...
Reading the tea leaves, it's pretty clear to me that Gebbia won't be the starter.

The fans are really great. Their dedication and what Nebraska football means to them, I know they're waiting for something to come back. I think Coach (Scott) Frost is going to do it and I'd love to be a part of that."
After Friday Night Lights, the Purcells almost missed their flight to Tennessee because they lost track of time talking to Nebraska fans. Roman and a fan only a few years old played catch in the north end zone afterward.

"I've really come to learn who I am as a person and what I'm looking for in a program; this summer has been very helpful," Purcell said. "I can feel the buzz (at Nebraska). They're itching for their football to be great."

We know Henrich made an official visit to Wisconsin on the weekend of June 15 and then followed that up with a Monday unofficial visit to Nebraska last week.

Henrich confirmed to the Journal Star over the weekend that those two were the last visits he took before the dead period began.

That, of course, doesn’t rule out any other school, but if Henrich does indeed make his decision before Burke begins its season, that would mean that Wisconsin got the penultimate visit and the Huskers received the final in-person swing.

Those two schools likely feel best about their chances to sign the 6-foot-4, 210-pounder.

For what it's worth, recruiting services seem to sense some momentum on Nebraska's side. 247Sports' Crystal Ball has flipped and now shows five of six predictions for
the Huskers, with one for Notre Dame.

It's something certainly to keep an eye on as the calendar turns to July and we march through the summer. https://journalstar.com/sports/husk...e9d79819-6676-5755-80a5-0b6b6eed0db9.amp.html

On Saturday, 247Sports and IrishIllustrated.com recruiting analyst Tom Loy flipped his prediction from Notre Dame to Nebraska. That was significant, because the Irish previously held a significant lead on Henrich’s Crystal Ball. Later that day, 247Sports director of recruiting Steve Wiltfong cast his prediction in favor of the Huskers. He makes his predictions with about 90 percent accuracy.https://www.landof10.com/nebraska/nebraska-recruiting-nick-henrich-crystall-ball-dead-period

"It was incredible," McCaffrey said. "Any time I’m up there it’s a great experience, and it was really nice to meet so many of the (2019 verbal) commits. We really bonded together and that was really cool, and we tried to encourage some other guys to think about Nebraska.
Freshman quarterback Adrian Martinez greeted McCaffrey on the sideline during the camp with a handshake and a hug.

“It was really cool when I first committed, he reached out to me and just said congrats and welcome to the brotherhood and that we have each others' backs,” McCaffrey said. “That was cool because we’re going to be competing and it could be awkward, but at the end of the day, we’re brothers.”

McCaffrey committed June 4, and since then has been active on social media in congratulating other additions — Georgia running back Ronald Thompkins II and Louisiana tackle Matthew Anderson have pledged for the Huskers in the past three weeks — and also learning more about his future home.

One thing that’s already clear: NU’s 2019 class is growing close very quickly. McCaffrey spent time catching up on the sideline with fellow verbal commit Garrett Nelson (Scottsbluff). The two are planning on rooming together upon arriving in Lincoln and, not surprisingly, have hit it off.

“He’s a great character,” McCaffrey said. “Him and Garrett Snodgrass. Really all the commits. Jackson Hannah. Ethan Piper. A few guys weren’t there, but it was really cool to meet them for the first time in person and really connect.
