UK will not lose at Rupp. We have lost six total in eight years so good luck. I would say you all would be favorites to win the conference but it depends on how healthy we get and how we gel.

Now that we are a basketball school, it's time for me to officially shift my focus to roundball. Florida is coming in at number 7 in the preseason coaches poll. Mike White is looking like the real deal. I really like his emphasis on team defense. That was one area I wish BillyD would have focused on harder. It wasn't until he hired Larry Shyatt that his team's started putting it all together. I think the Gators take 2 from UK this year and win the SEC. I don't think this will be one of Cal's better teams but it's always a toss up when you basically field a new team every year. How do you think the Cats match up with Florida this year?

I think Florida wins at home, but I say UK still wins in Rupp, and if they match up in the SEC. Barring injuries, this team should be fantastic by March.

You call it 'Gville' because you don't know the name of the UF Bleach Box. You got nothing. You can buy any level seat for any game at face value or less right now, except for when Kentucky comes to town. It's the only game you really sell out. So you hope to win one. Sports writers are dimwitted enough to rank the Gayturds every single year, and every year they get bumped down to the lower 25. You have never been a basketball school. Ever. And you will not be.
You couldn't sell 500 NCAA tickets when you were the defending Champs.
I am old enough to remember when Florida football was the dregs of NCAA. Like, when they did not WIN A SINGLE GAME! (1979, when they went 0-10) Less we forget, until 1984, Vanderbilt was the only other SEC member besides Florida to have never won a conference title. (of course, Florida vacated that title because of 107 major infractions!) So my time in the 60's and 70's (thank you Southeast Asia) at UK, Florida was known as 'Flori-not' and Cheater U. in SEC football. So you aren't a football school. You are a wannabe school who got excited about a little success. Like you do in basketball.

You do know that the University of Cincinnati had two back to back basketball championships. Would you also call THEM a basketball school now? Of course not. Florida is a swimming school. Go relish who you are....

You are an angry little man. I think you need to look at the all SEC sports championships. Florida has come a long way since 1960.

What's cute is you thinking Egbunu is going to be right back to his old self.
Silly, silly boy.

For his sake I hope so. The guy has had his fair share of bad luck. I've torn my ACL so I know how tough it is. Everyone comes back differently though.

So it looks like you're saying, "thank goodness it's basketball season". You don't hear that much from Gator fans. That's supposed to be our thing.

I'm hoping to get tickets for Nashville for the NCAA tourney, who knows, both of you could be there. And that would be sweet :sunglasses:

Egbunu was a freaking manchild, he manhandled everyone UK through at him before he got injured.
But you don't just come back from an ACL reconstruction and dominate at that level. But I hope he does eventually get back to and excels past what he once was.

Yeah...especially those swimming, diving and volleyball crowns. Whoopee.

Get your gaytard *** out of here. Most of these good folks don't know that UF fans are hated by the majority of Floridians. And UCF AND USF have a better football program than you do this year.

I think Florida is overrated. They lost their two best players and didn’t pick up anybody. I think the two split in the regular season, if a rubber game happens in the SEC tournament then UK takes that one easily.

Also this isn’t one of coach Cal’s elite UK teams, 18-19 will be, but I think they may rank better than the 10-11, 13-14, and light years better than 12-13.

this thread is funny. I actually think Florida has had some good games in the past against us. Not saying they are known for basketball but they have won a championship not too long ago.

Tough to predict who will win the matchups because arguably one of our top 2 players is out with an injury (Vanderbilt) and another rotation guard (Baker) is out as well. Baker is one of our best shooters, and Vanderbilt is a positionless player who has the dynamics to completely change our rotational strategy. We haven't seen our full squad in action yet.

Leaving those two out, we still have a ridiculously athletic and long team that will be tough to shoot over (once we settle down and stop leaving guys open on the perimeter).

Florida is good. White is doing better than anyone expected. I, for one, am glad Florida is still relevant post-Donovan. It's good for the conference.

Good luck, hopefully both teams are 100% healthy and stay that way come conference play.

Hate facts, Hillary? Florida is the 5th worst football team in Florida. FSU, Miami, UCF and USF all have better records and better wins than Florida. That's like Kentucky's program being behind Louisville, W. Kentucky, Northern Kentucky and Eastern. Yet you come here like you are a perennial powerhouse. Like you are entitled. But facts show you just are not.

But Florida fans are mostly just that way. You are probably the worst losers in the world (it's a battle between UF and Loserville in my book) and this is only overshadowed by your quest to be the World Champion Worst Winners. Your fans are insufferable after a win, and invisible after a loss.

Now you have no coach, and the field is getting thin. You keep dreaming about being 'great' in basketball. But unfortunately recruits are finding out that you aren't near a beach (like every other Florida college), and it's a two hour difficult drive to find the ocean. Your 'town' is just a little freeway stop on I-75 where tourist stop to get gasoline and a cheap tee shirt. In fact, you and I know that the most memorable thing your school produces are the dance team members who 'Dare to be Bare' in Miconopy after they fail to graduate with a Lesbian Dance Theory degree.

Like most Floridians, I hate the University of Florida. And I got a very big village.

Nobody is arguing that Florida is good at football this year, but we have been in the SEC championship the last 2 year's. I thought we were talking basketball, but what ever fits your agenda.

I'm pretty sure no one thought Gainesville was near the beach. I believe most recruits could have debunked that myth by using that fancy internet thing.

How would you know what most Floridians think?

For someone who claims to have been around during the 60's and 70's, you come off more like a teenager.

Then debate it if it's so stupid.
Basically, you can't debate it and you don't like what it said, so you take the toddler's approach by just calling it stupid.
Why don't you just go full child and call me a poo poo head.

Florida has a great one in White, and I think the Gators will now remain a force in the SEC for quite a while. I don't see Florida getting a win at Rupp, though a split is possible.
I expect Florida to be very good this year.
I have not paid attention- how is White doing with the '18 class? I know they whiffed on Dotson but got that nembhard kid (looks like a good pick up). Anyone else?

I believe Noah Locke is the only other commit so far. He is a 4 star guard. We may have a good shot at that Simons kid that DC'd from Louisville.

Because I moved to Florida in 1989, idiot. Retired here. MOST kids recruited by Florida claim to have been told it was a short hop to the beach. Why are you on this site? Go back to the Gaytard Gloryhole with your fantasies.

LOL! Isn't it in the dead center of the state?!? That is quite a stretch for Gators to be making that pitch!

Predicting a sweep, eh.

I wouldn't go that far. I can see a split with the home team winning each game, but unless your team is significantly better than last year, I don't see you winning in Lexington considering you've won there all of one time since Cal has been here and it was your undefeated in the SEC team vs. our bunch of freshmen that didn't click until late in 2014. You know, they year we made it farther than you as an 8 seed. .

Eh... not sure room to brag here. Both lost to the same team. Cats just played em one game later. I actually think both were actually better than that uconn team- just couldn't prove it.
That remains one of the more confounding tite runs to me.
But i agreee--- Gators not winning at rupp.

Somebody needs to check records. FSU is not better than Florida. Their bowl streak may come to a end.

I do not understand all of the guys calling the OP names. he simply posted his opinion. I do not agree with the split thing, but Florida is a nice basketball school. Some people need to remember this is a discussion board, not a agree with me or take your ball and GTFO board. Damn some are a little harsh on opposing fans, just state your rebuttal and move on, keep it a discussion.

He won't be even close to back to himself til next summer at the earliest. Anytime someone tears the ACL they might be able to come back but as UK learned with Poythress and we have seen time and time again it takes at least a year to more like 18-24 months to get back fully to normal. If you are counting on him to be very good you will be dissappointed .

UF is a nice basketball program but their fan base is awful. I live in Jax so I know this. Even when they are great they are an after thought . When they are just decent they struggle to sell out games . Billy finally had enough and went to a place where his coaching accumen would be appreciated . It is sorta funny though the 3-4 UF fans who sometimes come on here are very funny in that they overestimate their team time and time again.
