Haven’t they had great recruiting classes? They lost their QB early this season but what else happened? They may be worse than we are.

Coaches no longer get enjoyment out of coaching at the big time schools.

After Jimbo's comments to a fan, a few ex-coaches have been on ESPNU radio answering questions about how no coach that loves coaching should want to go to a big time program.

One example was about the OSU vs Penn St game and how Meyer has an amazing record at OSU, yet the fans' expectations are so high that he feels relief after a win, not joy.

Same thing for coach Saban. Relief after wins. Not enjoyment.

Just goes to prove anyone that claimed that college football was a business were right.

It's a stressful job. The successful ones wear so many hats.

I wish I had a job where I got stressed for 3 hours each week for 3 months out of the year and was paid millions for it.

I guarantee you that Saban does not feel relief after wins due to fan expectations. You have no idea how those guys think, and what they are motivated by.

Coaching is far from the only profession where you do those things. And they are extremely well compensated for it, unlike many others.
Don't disagree with you at all. Not something I would personally ever want though. Pressure, stress, hours, and lack of family/free time wouldn't be worth the money for me personally.

I can't say. With a lot of OT I can make 70 grand a year and I work as much as them. Give me the money.

Not against us it didn't

Not a fair comparison. Look at what Tenn has done against elite competition. Their offense can't compete. Has been re-hashed endlessly on this board but innovative offenses that get their athletes in space are the future.

Even Nick Saban has tried to go the more popular route..

Personally, I think they are starting to look like Tennessee, with an outdated version of the spread. The Vols offense has looked pedestrian for years, and FSU starting to look the same. Need a more dynamic offense.

Don’t care. They were playing Boston College.

Lol. Let's analyze everything to death until my brain explodes...

Uhh dumbass. I sarcastically said Florida St looks good......eeesh to which you replied with a 2 pararagraph response about offense and a comparison to Tennessee. Pretty sure you are the one doing the overanalysis. Florida’s St was beaten by BC by 32. Period. Go back to cheering for UCF

And work 18 hour days sometimes, travel constantly, and miss many children and family events?

You mean like the men and women in the service who are putting their lives on the line on a daily basis for a small fraction of what these coaches make? Is that who you're talking about?

Yes, the military does this along with many other professions. But the difference is that you’re comparing an entire job market to the top tier of another. Yes college coaches get paid a lot. But that’s because they’re the top level on their profession. High school coaches, youth coaches (I got paid very little to be a youth coach) don’t get paid well.
