Yes, Keyontae just fell forward and face planted. The sound made when his body hit the court attracted the attention of nearby players who had their backs turned toward him.

The video is heartbreaking. Real talk, I thought Keyontae was dead.

I'm still kinda numb.

One of my best UF sources texted me today and said "Not looking good for him from the little I've been told. Tragic."

I've texted the UF Coaches to see how they and the players are coping. They are not saying much. One of them said that the players are "just ok," and he included three prayer emojis.

I'm surprised the game continued. J. Leonard Hamilton offered to cancel it.

What happened to Keyontae is terrible and very unfortunate. Anyone who is speaking about a young man's health, whose life may forever be changed, without knowing what happened is doing a severe disservice to him and the world.

This falls in line with "bad headlines only" mentality. and the new journalism of "first to report" vs "right". Player collapses which probably happens once or twice a year will now immediately get linked to covid. Everyone asks us not to judge other people when bad thinks happen yet when it comes to a scary headline we immediately start saying covid.

Unfortunately for people who live under a rock, covid isnt the only sickness in the world. Considering we have been playing professional, college, high school and AAU sports for months now and this is the first time a player has been seriously injured maybe we should pump the breaks on the "covid caused him to collapse" rhetoric.

Agree with you, surprised game continued. Much different as to when player carried off due to a bone break, torn ligament, etc.

I missed this as i read through. This is absolutely heart breaking. The only thing you can do is pray for him and his family.

College Basketball should halt playing till they find out if this was related to Covid.
Also all the players are coaches must be vaccinated to continue the season.

Florida BB program is in big trouble for not catching what he had during the physical.

My daughter has done two internships at Tallahassee Memorial and is doing internship at Tampa in spring. Looking for full time job when she graduates at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Johns Hopkins Pediatric hospital in St Petersburg or Tampa General. Turned down job offer from Tallahasse memorial already. She'll have a nice looking resume for a graduate with 3 internships plus she is an EMT on the FSU squad.
