Some people, including Ritchie, seemed to be confused about Izzo's reference to the Flintstones. IIRC, that was the affectionate nickname for a previous MSU team - don't recall what year - some of whose players originated from Flint, Michigan. It goes without saying that this was a favorite of many Spartan fans and Coach Izzo.

as were Trent Tucker (Minnesota), Roy Marble (Iowa), Glen Rice (Michigan) and others back in the day and also currently. Flint seems to outpunch its weight class (city size).

It was the ultimate compliment to compare Caleb and Paul and Cliff and Mag to those great MSU teams. Izzo has conjured up gems at some of his pressers this year and his admiration of Tutgers and our toughness is what he and a lot of the coaches love about us. You cannot get a better compliment than the one Painter gave us , that if you are going to war , we are stopping in Jersey to pick up those tough dudes. We are really growing on some of the best coaches in the country
