Heard a national guy on a local show this morning say that Fleck has not signed the extension and that there is a greater than 50% chance he is gone. Apparently he wants the FSU job.

Maybe. Probably a stall and see what else comes up. It's in his best interest to wait. His position gets stronger and so does his bargaining power.... unless the wheels fall off the train. Or I guess I should have said the oars sink to the bottom of one of the 10,000+ lakes.

I guess what I'm saying is IF he wants to stay at Minnesota, he'd be a fool to sign an extension without seeing what kind of offers he gets to improve his monetary position at Minnesota

wouldn’t surprise me at all. I don’t know how many more season like this season Minnesota has in them, so if Fleck ever wanted to bounce to bigger and better...this would be the time to do it.

The extension doesn't start until sometime in December anyway. $4M buyout if he goes not, $10M after the extension starts.

these national guys always say stuff like this. If it happens they say I said it first. If he stays they don't talk about it again. If somebody calls him out he will say all I can tell you is Fleck was going but fsu decided to go in a different direction.

More money and a bigger name, he'll never be hotter than right now. If he doesn't wanna retire at Minnesota he should do it now.

His stock can only drop from here, undefeated up there and fresh off beating undefeated Penn State ain't gonna happen often.

Minnesota is a good situation for him and will put up with his antics. I don't know why you'd leave that. I don't see FSU hiring him for one thing and there's a better chance than not it will be a failure if they do. I don't see FSU having a lot of patience with Fleck, and he'd be under a lot of pressure to win right away.

I hope he goes and not because he has made Minnesota into a good team this year. I just think he’s an annoying douche.

I don’t think Fleck is afraid of pressure. He may stay in Minnesota, but I don’t think its because of the pressure he would face elsewhere.

Sure but I don't even know if he'd get a fair chance at FSU. I think he's in a better situation at Minnesota than going to FSU. At FSU he will get maybe one year if he's lucky to turn it around before they start to turn on him.

Don’t disagree at all. But his ego may not allow him to leave it alone.

He will get interest from FSU Michigan State USC and Penn State if Franklin leaves. Fleck is a great coach. He's proven it at a couple places now its his turn to coach one of the blue bloods.

If he leaves, Minny will revolt. The hatred will be like the dynamic between the Lane Train and Tennessee.

If he's smart, he should go. No defense in Power 5 will lose more combined starts to graduation. 5 players alone in their front 7 have started almost 40 games in their career. Its a staggering accomplishment.

9 guys will be gone after this season, and as many as 4 of them will likely get drafted.

Fleck will never be as marketable as he is in 2019.

and if he unfortunately wins only 6 games in a year and a half at FSU, he is gone and may never see the kind of money again (although if he gets a guaranty 7 year contract at FSU, he won't need to coach again).

Exactly, if he ever wanted to go for bigger and better, this would be the time to do it.

A truly sad day in NU football when we are wanting not only a successful coach to leave but a coach from Minnesota. I for one hope he stays.

bro, it’s not about what us Husker fans want, it was a topic on if he should and does go? Makes no difference what we want.

Edited...Well I suppose that guy wouldn’t mind it but so far that’s the only one I see. Myself, it wouldn’t brother me one bit if does or doesn’t.

If FSU really wanted me, I'd make them pay the buyout and make it so I'd have a 100% guaranteed contract with no off set. That way if they fire me after a year and a half, I still get paid while earning additional money with someone else. By getting rid of Willie so quickly, I'd be pushing for all three. With no state income tax either, just pay me slightly more than I'm making and I'll be laughing to the bank.

They will pay the buyout, they always do. The guaranteed lump sum buyout payment is becoming more and more popular and I agree, in this situation, the new coach could have enough leverage to get that in the contract.

Or realize your limitations and recognize he's already got a good thing going, why leave that? I see his chance of success at a place like FSU as very low. If he wants to leave Minnesota someday, he'd be better off waiting for a Big 10 job to open up. The northern schools generally have a lot more patience than the southern schools and are already used to his demeanor. I mean he's already a goofy guy being at a northern school, I think he'd fit in even less at a southern school.

This is 100% true, but coaches rarely look at things this way. People gave the same reasons for Frost staying at UCF, Petersen staying at Boise St, Brian Kelly staying at Cinnci, Tom Herman staying at Houston. Fleck is a very competitive and confident guy, I'm sure he believes he could win big and win NC's at a place like FSU.

I’m really surprised FSU didn’t hire their guy by now. Not sure their guy said yes.

exactly what Headcard said. Just because things are going good now, doesn’t mean it will down the road with Minnesota and if Fleck is smart he will know that. It all depends if he wants to take on a bigger gig and wants a chance at actual National Titles or not.

Yep, the buyout would be sweet. If Arkansas is still shelling it out that might be good place for him. Combine row the boat with soooooey, pig!

Grass is always greener, until you get whacked with the mower in Tallahassee. Would PJ be able to Row The Boat at Free Shoes U?

Not true , copies of the signed contract have been circulated throughout the media .
End of story
