That was an awful car, no question, just normal flow the game. The bigger problem I had with it - and I’m not one of the board whiners about officiating - is that the two senior officials couldn’t make that very obvious decision on their own. Very disturbing. You wanna call it a foul at worst, ugh OK, but flagrant? Disgraceful.

Just commented on that in my post-game post. Horrible call, especially with benefit of replay.

The pudgy ref and the young ref are awful especially the young ref. I always get on him at games. I sit courtside and I always give it to Courtney Greene as well. . Another anti Rutgers ref.

That one ref who looks like the guy who always used to say "dilly dilly" on the old Bud Light commercials always gives us the shaft

Hard to believe you can get a flagrant foul called when no foul was called.
Ref's can miss a call and then go to replay and see a clear flagrant. So I'll disagree with the generalization.

But that call on Oscar did not fit the bill. Butkus.

Awful call. The replay video from behind the backboard was poor quality. We should upgrade the camera for better quality.

I figured it was merely smudged. I mean any crappy cell phone from 5 years ago will get you better video then that.

Building would’ve exploded with anger when that was put up on the video board

Oscar didn’t move , guy ran in his back/*** with his chest which cause his head to magically whiplash back .

yes even I admit it was an awful call and if it takes that long to decide and show it slow motion then it shouldnt be called.

however they are forced by rule to do it anytime a hand or elbow goes above a certain point

Reminiscent of Tim Higgins, we committed the never-called 3-second violation. The refs blew it though ... Tim saved that call for a turning point in the game to whistle it.

Just rewatched the play. Almost simultaneously Oskar takes a soft hand to the face too. Watch the Cuse players left hand up at Oskar’s mouth area.

agreed. How could it be flagrant when Palmquist never saw the Syracuse player behind him?

The Cuse player’s reaction reminded me of the South American soccer player flops when another player barely touches them.

Unless the rules have changed, I believe any contact to the head/face is a flagrant 1. They want to take the refs out of deciding what someone's intent was and make it automatic. This rule was made 10/15 years ago. Unless its changed its unfortunately the right call.

At least the two disinterested guys "calling" the game actually got involved.

I understand the rule but it’s flawed.
This is the real issue. No one liked the call at all and everyone feels its not even a foul let alone a flagrant. When it goes to review though its contact to the head and they basically always give a flagrant 1 now any time there is any contact in a review. Need to give refs more discretion to use their judgment in which case they likely don't call it.

and I’m not one of the board whiners about officiating
This is part of the problem. You are "whining" about it right now.

You just are willing to accept any number of bad calls or no calls in order to claim the title of being "not one of the board whiners about officiating".

Others have a different standard.. and you mock them for it. You whine about them whining and you are doing it right now.
