But it doesn’t matter right? The state government doesn’t have any power of the NCAA. The government can grant the student athletes rights and the NCAA can do, ok you can do that but you can’t be a part of our affiliation. The NCAA has a right to keep its programs strictly amateurs

the ncaa could do those things, but they're already playing along.

they've already been beaten in court trying to prove their right to maintain an amateur organization while pocketing billions. more lawsuits have been filed on the back of this precedent, and at this point, despite spending the most dollars in their history lobbying against these bills in congress, they're backed into a corner.

the ncaa isn't necessary for college sports. I believe they know this, that their jig is up, and now they will do what they can to keep conferences happy instead of trying to rule with an iron fist and losing everything.
