I don't know why anyone would pick 4/5 . I can see guys who are already enrolled and used a medical already picking it but not anyone who's gonna enroll.
The fact that the althetes who are already enrolled get a choice I think they allowed this graduating HS class to have the choice as well so everything is the same across the board. But by next year everyone enrolled now would've picked so the Fall 2027 enrollees have no choice

Why would anyone pick 4/5
The only edge case I can think of is if you are already planning to take a year away - maybe for a mission or Olympic training - and are also worried about the potential impact of injury. If you were only planning to wrestle four years keeping the hardship waiver option open has some value.
