I agree with these points..

If hes gonna stay and collect millions he needs to earn those millions not steal them. Once the season is over he needs to evaluate alot of things.

Letting go of Barbee and Justice seem like the most logical moves first and foremost.

Looking at Antigua again would seem like a great start. I'm sure there are a ton of assistant options out there but Antigua knows what UK basketball is about.
Hes done a great job coaching big men at Illinois and he probably only makes around 500,000.. Give him a call and a Kenny Payne money.

Getting Derek in here would be a good move as well. (Cal, Antigua, Bruiser, Lucas, Anderson)

He needs to evaluate himself as well. His sideline coaching and recruiting are getting worse every year. He really needs to determine if he still wants to do this because it appears he has coasted into mediocrity as a coach.

The coach of Illinois is a good coach but the addition of Antigua to his staff has brought their program to the next level. The talent on Illinois is outstanding. Unfortunately, I don’t see it happening. Imo, there has to be one of two things 1. Cal and Antigua’s relationship soured after he left for some reason. Or 2. Barnhart won’t allow him to return for some reason. Otherwise, I can’t imagine Cal wouldn’t have already brought him back at some point after Antigua was fired as the head coach of USF.

I thought the same thing reading this. You can bet his opponent has scouted his team and watched hours of film. This may be a reason Calipari has struggled in prime time games and come up short when he had the superior players. In 2015 Wisconsin knew everything about UK and Caliapari. I doubt the same could be said for Calipari and UK players. Just one example.

What has Derek Anderson done to deserve getting an assistant coaching position at Kentucky? Playing here doesn't mean you should coach here. And also, why would Calipari fire his two assistants/close friends and then go hire a guy who has always been loyal to Pitino and has openly criticized and mocked his coaching abilities?

I don't understand everyone's obsession with Derek Anderson. Has he ever coached in college? in division one? has he ever recruited? what are his qualifications to be a coach in the most high pressure job in college BB? So to adjust to modern basketball you want him to read books by coaches that coached in a different time. Make no sense. And smith is a joke. Who did less with more than him?

how do you know he can’t? First he has a ton of connections on the aunderstands the greatness of UK, it’s fans, the spotlight and most importantly how to win at UK not to mention he is a native. That’s half of what it takes to coach right there .don’t discount a winner from their home school a guy with a title.

second I never said hire Derek Anderson to be head coach or do anything specific. He can work with individual players and most importantly he can learn to take on greater responsibilities. You really think Derek could be any worse than Justus? Look at the coaching greats in college today and their staffs. Half those guys at duke and UNC never coached. They were brought in because they were great players with great minds who love their school.

finally you balance bringing in a guy like Anderson with bringing in an experienced coach. This isn’t brain surgery and those questioning adding a guy like Anderson to the staff have no idea how to assemble a group of coaches to win.

gonna add you don’t play for pat Riley and win an nba title doing it and not have that prestige rub off on you. Derek is a winner and had played for some great coaches and with great players.
