First televised NC game

When was the first NC game televised? I clearly remember 1966 but don't have any recollection of 1958 being on TV. I was 6 at the time though, and it's also possible that my family didn't have a TV yet, as we were not wealthy. TVs were pretty expensive then, relatively speaking.

The reason I remember '66 so well was that we watched at my grandparents' house. They had a color TV that I'm sure came from my uncle, who worked for Magnavox in Paducah at the time.

Pretty sure it was the one La Salle won. 1954 I believe.

I definitely remember the games with UCLA in the early 1960s. Not sure before that, but another poster said 1954. That could be it.

The first final I saw on TV was 1960 California vs. Ohio State. That was the great matchup between Jerry Lucas and Darrel Imhoff. (sp)

I went to the 1958 UK final four and don't remember if it was or not.

I can't answer your question, but '65-'66 was the first year I followed the Cat's. The only time I saw them on TV that year was in the championship game. On a small, black and white one no less. Well into the 80's it was still difficult for someone living out of state to see UK games. Now days of course I can see them all, and even stream them onto my computer if I want.

I had just returned from overseas and was pulling CQ in New Mexico and watched the NC game. That was many years ago.

I lived in New Mexico myself for 8 years. I never liked Albuquerque, but I grew to love the state. The desert really does grow on you if you give it a chance.
