I did not see this before I replied but I remember it was incomplete?? Only reason is because the crowd cheered it because we (fans) wanted to be a passing offense sooo bad.
I recall some fairly significant formation shifts before the snap. It was visually impressive, just not effective in, you know, gaining yards.

First play? I think Rhule has his finger squarely on the pulse of Husker Nation. With that in mind I say he calls a fullback trap play as the first call of his career. Heck, just lining up in an I formation with a fullback in front of an I back will get a roar from the crowd.

They will line up in an empty set and everyone in the stands and watching on tv groans. They will then motion into power I and the fans go crazy. Dive up the middle for three yards and a cloud of dust (or turf pellets). All is good in America again.

They'll put Solich in a helmet and pads and hand him the ball, it'll be sort of like Jack Hoffman but, you know, different.

After hearing Solich at today's presser and Rhule telling him they've actually worked on the belly option that's what I'm going with.

First play is the belly option.

No they lined up in the I then shifted into a 5-wide set and threw a quick pass
It was in game 2 or 3 the following fall they ran an option play that did fairly well, like 6 yards. The Monday after the game they had the coach's show, I think with Don Gill and Gill noted they ran an option. Callahan's smart assed comment was something like, "Yeah, we ran the option, I guess I'm a real football coach now."

First play I have insider knowledge that FS said that Matt Rhule has Belly and Belly option in this offense. I think he runs one of those in honor of him.
