It's great to be back in the press box at Ryan Field. Pretty sparse crowd in the stands....and in the press box, to be honest. At least it's band day, and there are tons of high school players here, so it will look a little better on TV.

It's a glorious day in Chicago. 80 degrees and blazing sunshine. I can see sailboats on the lake from here.

What we want to see today: The offense moves up and down at will and scores a bunch of points, Hunter Johnson has a big day, and Andrew Marty (who I think is the backup) gets some reps.

They just announced that Jesse Brown is starting at RB.

Interesting. Brown does seem to be the most likely to be an every down back among the trio of him, Moten and DA3.

Two absolutely beautiful throws by HJ on that first drive. Placed it absolutely perfectly for both Skowronek and McGowan in stride.

Impressive.

Crap... we scored on the first drive. I feel like against these weaker teams we always come out and score right away and then let up a bit.

Great 1st series for HJs confidence. That drive looked like what I’d hoped we’d see a couple weeks ago. Wonderful start!

Great play by Whillock and excellent recovery by Gaz there; your larger point stands however - the defense is showing deficiencies at DT (which was a discussion point all summer) and also outside linebacker - now that Hall is not there to help Fisher you’re seeing some of the big deficiencies with Gallagher and Bergin - space, single tackles and coverage is not their friend. They’ll do well at middle of the field run plays tho.

I’m still hopeful that the defensive backs will get their tackling together, so I’m not overly concerned with them per se.

Glad to see HJ ripping it. Not a great decision into two defenders but I like everything else on O right now.
