Kentucky is too high. Don't get me wrong, you guys can reach that spot by seasons end but you will have some growing pains until then. That said, that is not my biggest issue with the poll. It loses credibility by placing Tennessee so low. The Vols are probable top 5, definitely top 10.
Ha! This is wishful thinking on your part. Just because Tennessee returns starters doesn't mean they will be an elite team. That team lost a bunch of games last season, and then they lost 2 senior guards and another key player to transfer. Seeing Tennessee at #12 should be very satisfying to any Volunteer fan. As for UK, the addition of Sarr to an already highly talented group makes this team very dangerous from the jump. If not for Sarr, I would agree #10 is too high for now. We'd be relying almost entirely on freshmen for our scoring, and hoping they'd pan out. But having Sarr starting at center makes all the difference. Now, the scary thing for Tennessee fans is that these freshmen will improve game by game and UK-UT don't play until February 6th. By that time, these freshmen will have it figured out and Tennessee will struggle to defend all these options.

I just don’t know how many times we have to watch this play out before we understand. Cal’s dominant teams in the early season have combined elite new talent with returning contributors (2010, 2012, 2015). Every other team has struggled through the regular season.

This team is very similar to the 2014 and 2018 teams. We a pile of elite talent, but it’s very young and inexperienced. Both of those teams finished with 11 losses, including some total head-scratchers. I’m not saying this season won’t be better than those seasons, but it’s crazy to think we should be Top 5 right now. Absolutely crazy.
You may be right, but still, it's hard aligning with a Vol, even if he is royalty.

But we do have more experience than normal. Most is from other schools but it’s still college basketball experience. That’s the difference.

You just have to laugh at the 3 Big 10 schools in the top 10 and ahead of UK no less.

I look at it as continuity/experience playing together being emphasized. TBH I'm okay with it. Preseason rankings won't win anyone anything at the end of the season.

Meh, whatever. Just win and it takes care of itself.

Fo shizzle.

Duke at #9 is laughable.

Kansas at 6 minus Dotson and Azubuike seems a bit high as well, but I guess that's KU/Self and Duke/K getting the benefit of the doubt.

To be fair, KU returns more talent than Duke or UK this season.
