The problem is Greg has been hands off and given the reigns to the coordinators. His job changed. He’s CEO and doing CEO duties like nil and recruiting . He needs to get back involved big time especially on D.
This^^^^

The players for whatever reason are not able to play the defense the coaches want them to play this year. To this point they have been trying to hammer that square peg which fit last year, now this year, into a round hole. It's obvious it's not working and they need to make some changes that better fit what they have. You're supposed to be a defensive specialist, you should be able to figure out what gives you a better chance to succeed than what you've been doing.

I guess you don’t know much about football , your request sounds ridiculous. Maybe the offensive coordinator I would agree with your call .

Thank you!

The bar will go lower once again. Probably 3-4 wins next year. When he exceeds it with 5, he’ll get extended again. Schiano laughs himself to sleep at night. Candy from a baby.

People say Hobbs didn’t hire ash and he didn’t hire schiano .
Correct on both counts.
Both were forced upon him. Hindsight is 20/20, but remember that court testimony where Bielema was the first choice? That would have been a better choice.

By Far the easiest schedule we’re ever going to get. He has yet to play a ranked opponent and 2 of the 3 west coast teams came to us. Wash USC and UCLA are all in down years. No excuses Schiano is a clown
Schiano’s clownishness aside, although one can’t help but wonder what you’ve accomplished in life that’s less clownish, “ever” is a very long time. So I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

At a minimum.um the injuries, particularly LB, are partially the the explanation

Careful… People really don’t like it when we derail their hate train with facts and logic. 😀

It’s funny how, when I didn’t want GS back, people got all pissed off at me for pointing out some facts and logic in support of not bringing him back. And now, many of the same people get pissed off at me ’cause I’m not discarding facts and logic and joining in the GS hatefest.

One could be forgiven for thinking people, these days, greatly prefer their emotions be entirely unclouded by facts and logic. And I’m not just talking about football. 🤣

I agree to an extent. The problem is that the stuff on the field that Greg is still hands on, are generally poor decisions. I.e when to go for it on 4th down, kicking field goals etc.

And his explanations post UCLA on analytics shows me his understanding of analytics is very rudimentary. Time has just passed him by, unfortunately for us.

Oh I am definitely a clown and will not get into my accomplishments personal and professional. I guess will ignore the joke schedule . So, I didn’t cover up a scandal at PSU. I didn’t get thrown out of the NFL. I didn’t get fired by Ohio state because I was a bad defensive coordinator. I didn’t embarrass RU and steal money to coach the team into the ground. Thankfully I am still young.

Joke schedule? Just because it's not one of the 2, 3 most difficult in D1?

I was in the stands for the Michigan annihilation in 2016. Aside from the burn of the pummeling was the feeling Ash was absolutely clueless and we were stuck with him for the next few years regardless of how bad we would be due to his contract. I am getting that depressing feeling again with Schiano. We are improved from Ash but we play in a big-time league now and I think Schiano is over his head but will be here the next three years regardless of performance due to the extension. Schiano was 9-4 the last season of 1.0 but look at the teams and scores, best we played was #24 WVU and we had a lot of close wins against marginal teams. After 16 seasons at RU he will be under 500 and sitting on a fat extension, does that situation exist anywhere else in the country? Hopefully we can squeak out minor bowls the next few years as bowl season has the shine off for me when RU is not part of it.

Let’s just settle this once and for all.

If you are over 50 years old, you are likely ‘Pro Schiano’.

If you are under 50, you are likely ‘Anti-Schiano’

No, Old Shelby can’t remember when he was 50, and completely rejects Schiano’s legitimacy as a Big10 coach. Always has.

What does Ash have to do with how bad Schiano is?? 5 years of development and Greg’s teams look worse against inferior competition
That’s just not true. When 2.0 loses home games to Eastern Michigan and gives up 400 pts to Kansas and Buffalo, I’ll agree. And I’d say Ash had at least somewhat to do with the pace of the rebuild. CA cratered the already shaky foundation of the program. Nobody was coming in here and turning this around on a dime. That said, our expectations should be higher in Y5. If in August, you told me we’d have a 4 game losing streak somewhere this year, I’d have said you’re nuts.

The realistic hope is to squeak into these minor bowls the next few years and then schiano can retire, leaving the program in a much better place …again. And rutgers hires a big time coach that can take this to the next level. But I don’t think this will happen.

Absolutely this.
Our expectations continue to be the lowest of any team in the Conference . Loser mentality.

Good point, but the "don’t think this will happen" is a good prediction that I feel won't be proven wrong.
Either because Greg won't leave on his own until 2030 or when he leaves, this statement :" rutgers hires a big time coach that can take this to the next level." will be proven wrong ( going by past practice).
Rutgers can't keep up in the NIL playing field and big time coaches aren't going to risk their careers by going to a program that can't keep up with the Joneses.
Rutgers will try for retreads that most programs would pass over or gamble on P-5 assistants hungry for a chance to prove themselves as a HC or G-5 HCs that are not the hottest on the market but have a good resume. and both types won't be asking for top dollar.

Big Boy Bobstradamus doesn’t know a thing about Shelby, but sure, keep levying those oh so hurtful barbs, each one ten times more vicious than the last. Your inelegant zingers suggest limited intellect, btw. Maybe think about upping your eloquence before attempting insults next time, Big Boy Bob.

A retread would be the wise way to go. Like a bilemma type. That’s the only retread type Rutgers would go for.
Rutgers won’t consider types like Petrino or tressel. Guys that won and are only unemployed because of some shady stuff.
So we are really hamstrung by a lot of things.

But for now and the next few years it’s schiano. Let’s hope he keeps us at respectable and maybe a little better. This is way better the ash years. We are still alive for a bowl

The anti-Schiano group, who wanted Schiano fired when we were 4-0, are now opening their pie holes after things aren't going our way. What else is new.
What has not changed at Rutgers is Rutgers and Rutgers fans.

We compare Schiano to Cignetti.. to Lance Liepold last year.. to Brett Bielema this years. You know what those coaches do not have to deal with? Rutgers, Rutgers fans, New Jersey and New Jersey politicians. They don't have to coach a program that has done everything on the cheap for.. well, its entire long history.

Some people think those coaches could get it done here? With this attitude of some "fans"?

Schiano is the guy who can get Rutgers to the point where, maybe, we can hire one of those type of coaches and they COULD succeed here. It is a long process. Getting us to bowl games under GS1.0 was the first positive step. Getting us into the Big Ten was the next. Getting financing set up for NIL is the next hurdle as we figure out what is possible for Rutgers in this new world.

Tell me Elon Musk wants to come in to coach and I'd say, sure.. at a minimum he can fund it and hire creat assistants. Barring that, firing coaches and paying buyouts would become the standard here.

Putting GS on the hot seat at this point is shooting yourself in the foot. Hobbling Rutgers football's progress to the next phase.

This season is a setback.. but it is temporary. Let us not compound the problem by harassing the head coach. He is not going anywhere. Harras the assistants.

I mean.....the team is on a 4 game losing streak.
It's not like we're 8-0 and people are complaining.

Seems some (but not all) of the concern after the 4-0 start was justified.

I don't question your intellect. I question your obsession with making negtive Rutgers posts 24/7. I also question your feeling of self importance by referring to yourself in thev3rd person.
