The online is worse this year than I’ve ever seen it. My grandmother could out block those kids any day of the week.
Dumbest comment. This O-line coach just started this year. He only has what was here to work with 8 months ago. How many of those months are actual coaching time? He probably had to break them all down to start all over again.

Things usually get worse before they get better when big changes are made. Just how long it takes to get better is the question. But 3 games definitely isnt long enough to make that determination.

If Joseph were to be anointed our next HC it would be interesting to see which staff members he retains going forward. Not many I'm guessing.

Regressed from last year, yes. Lost a legit NFL player at center. Regressed during this season, not seeing it. Not sure that Bill Callahan could do much with what Raiola inherited. DR may not be a good OL coach, but with this short window with kids he didn't recruit isn't the best yardstick.

Absolutely not. The OP was spot on. Quit making excuses for this sorry *** OLine coach. He should have NEVER been hired. He's a really good man but not coach. This guy has just continued terrible Oline play for decades. He was brought in to get his nephew, which failed anyway so who gives a crap. Until Neb. gets a solid Oline coach, the team will continue to suck

O-Line is bad but Wipp and Casey aren’t helping it. Wipp needs to be calling more quick outs/ 3 step passes. Casey needs to run more when he can’t find anyone open. A few times yesterday he took sacks that were on him.

Williams shouldn't come out of the game from what I've seen. He's bigger and quicker than any other lineman we have. I saw it in just his first 2 snaps against Oklahoma and these coaches can't see it all throughout fall camp? And then we have Piper subbing in for him and of course our offense goes nowhere. What the heck are these coaches seeing in practices that they're constantly caught off guard with how bad this team matches up on Saturdays?

I disagree for the reason that we lost our 2 best OL....

Nouili and Teddy out are MASSIVE. We were already not good and thin. Only fault is that I would give Anthony and Williams a shot at RT for Benhart since he has struggled.

Personnel doesn't matter. They're all gonna suck until a good Oline can be hired.

Why is it that whenever someone wants a new coach, they immediately think of the best former Husker player and think they should be the new coach. What makes you think Brendan Stai or Will Shields or Richie Incognito can coach O line? Because they played it? That might be a pre-requisite but it absolutely does not mean they should be coaching. Please stop with the 'insert former player as coach' takes. Just so stupid and half the reason we are in this mess in the first place. Find the BEST coach for the job. IDGAS where he played or coached or grew up.

I think we still have a very accomplished OL coach on staff helping out. Can't remember his name.

I won’t disagree heck appoint stai or will shields as oline coach, only reason frost hired riola was to get Dylan
No. Raiola is qualified to coach our o line. His name didn’t hurt but I don’t think he’s the issue.

Game 3 against the 6th ranked team no less. I’m reserving judgement for after the next 4 games

After rewatching part of the game the biggest thing Imo was the first couple series OU played more straight up and once they decided Nebraska was playing hard they brought a different scheme that was confusing both they offensive and defensive lines. I’m not going to bag on 54 yeah he was seen not blocking several times but he was never taught or didn’t know his responsibilities. I’ll back off on riola he can only do so much

Yep. Venables owned us and his d line is WAY more athletic than our O line. There isn’t a guy on our o line right now who will get a sniff from the NFL

2 starters out now. You just cant expect there not to be a drop off. Especially considering how well known our lack of development is. Not gonna pin that on raiola right now. OU was just a better team, way better. Reserve the judgement until we get into the meat of the B1G schedule. I expect us to run the ball and pass block decent on teams like Illinois, Indiana, Rutgers, Purdue, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Iowa. Michigan will be more along the lines of OU, but hoping we have settled in a bit more by then and we can at least put up some meaningful points.
Im not saying its gonna look great, but understand that OU has much better talent than most of the B1G, especially the B1G west. We shouldnt look that lost from here on out. If we do......then ugggh.

News flash! The O-line was NEVER ANY GOOD! Nothing is going to fix that until there are BIG10 caliber O-linemen and some depth is established here.

I’ve been saying this for the last couple of years. Raiola is an improvement in coaching over Greg Austin but the guys we have here are just not good enough to play at this level.

This is complete garbage. There is plenty of talent along that Oline to be good immediately. Just need a good position coach. See Bill Bedenbauce

Just because a guy is qualified doesn't mean that he's good at his job.
I just don't think we can draw much from his performance thus far based on what he had to start with. Losing Nouili, Teddy and Jergens from the starting line at the end of last year was a blow. OU is a very talented team and their head coach is a great defensive coach. I'll reserve judgement on Raiola for a month or so. I think that's the fair thing to do.

You can draw everything from his performance so far and even his personnel decisions. It took me two plays to notice that Williams should have been a permanent starter from the beginning.

the fact we weren't ready to go against northwestern - a team that just lost a home game to an 0-2 FCS program - is as big an indictment on everyone involved with the program as can possibly be leveled.

I called northwestern a high school team before and after they beat us. I may have been too generous.

Go ahead and wait a month, a year, whatever. It isn't gonna matter. He's a terrible developer of talent

This is such a bad take. If you actually watch the first couple of games the line was actually getting better. The problem was that we would have 4 guys doing their job and then one who would miss their assignment or blow their technique. But considering what was brought back from last year and they are playing two totally different blocking concepts depending on the play call the fact that we were getting 4 guys on the same page as fast as we did is actually incredibly impressive.

And then Teddy got hurt again. When he went out last year the line was atrocious and that was with a veteran and good interior core. The simple fact is we are missing our best two guys from a line that was already lacking depth and reliable talent and Oklahoma is a top 10-15 team. Our line is nowhere near ready for that right now with the current roster. They are nowhere near ready for the Big Ten either, but they are significantly better coached.
