Before he does irreparable damage to the program. He is not the coach we need and it is time to find a new one.

Start looking now and let Rutgers take him off our hands at the end of the season.

It started after the UK game last year and hit 4th gear with the KSU game. UT just made the pedal touch the metal.

The only people I talk to that want to give Moorhead three to four years are the same people that told me we needed to give sirmon, Croom, and ray more time. They all told me continuity is important. Well guess what, we fired all three of them and when we did the next hire was an upgrade.

Who wanted to give Sirmon and Ray more time? Croom I could almost understand because he got us to that 1 bowl game, but the other two???

But see that. That has been the group think(not you per se) of MSU fans forever before 2010. Croom got us to that ONE Bowl game, and the fan base was good with a 5th year which ironically meant that every player on the team was a Croom recruit. And I watched them get pummeled 45-0 at Oxford, with negative (Negative) rushing yards and less than 110 yards passing.

Of course Mullen has immediate success with Croom’s 4th and 5th recruiting classes(Mullen held that one together), because Mullen had a plan to utilize what Croom left him and build on it.

I believe a new coach can do the same with what will be left after Moorhead leaves, whether it is November 2019 or November 2020.

But perception matters when hiring in college football especially at MSU.

Can you imagine the negative publicity and damage to our program if we had fired the first black sec coach after taking us to a bowl game?

Either A or B

A. You can’t imagine it so your opinion will never really matter.

Or

B. You can imagine it but you don’t think it matters which means your opinion will never really matter.

You pick.

Anyone who truly thinks we should have fired croom after that bowl season doesn’t need a say so in our hiring process.

Just buy season tickets and donate what you can and leave the decisions to the people with some intelligence.

The one guy in my office I talk to that always defends Moorhead defended Sirmon the same way. Saying he just needed more time to adapt and get more time and we needed continuity on the defensive side. He also said during ray tenure that the boys played hard and that he was building it the right way like Croom cleaning up the program and rebuilding. He also see it as rebuilding after Mullen and the shape Mullen left us in from recruiting and job shopping.

Just blame Mullen and think all these guys need so much time. Moorhead didn’t need to rebuild anything. More time for the sake of continuity is dumb. You don’t give a coach more time just to have someone in the job longer. We have already proven that firing a bad coach in short time is not a bad thing because we have immediately upgraded in the recent past doing that.

Lots of people wanted to keep sirmon. I know because I argued with them at length.

Funny that you mention Croom and folks saying give them time. I remember talking with a big booster after Croom was ejected and him whining that Sly was about to hire a new OC. I told him it was a few years late for that decision... like after the first season.

I got the same crap at the end of the JWS era until I reminded them the last top recruiting classes for Sherrill were all in prison or headed that way or off the team.
