We can appreciate having him and knowing when he is gone we will keep ticking. No one coach is bigger than Kentucky basketball. Coach Cal would tell you the same thing. Some are more successful but even good coaches can become great here.

Indiana went south fast with Knight as their head coach starting in 1990..... that goes against your theory of things getting bad after a legendary coach leaves... their case they regretted keeping their legendary coach as long as they did lol
All those great coaches IU got after Knight. How many titles did those coaches get for IU?

I agree but Indiana fans were saying the same thing after Knight left. You see how that turned out.

Why do you keep comparing us to IU? They have never been as good as us and never will be. We've had 3 of 4 coaches win championships since Bobby Knight was fired and the one who didn't was dumped after 2 years. We don't settle for mediocrity.

IU was the king of college basketball when Knight was there. Their fans thought when Knight left they would not take a step back. I am not saying that will happen at UK when Cal leaves but none of us know what the future holds. We do know we have one of the best coaches in college basketball now and should be happy that Cal is our coach.

If that Virginia Tech coach is able to recruit pretty well there he could be scary. Runs a really fun style of offense. Should be able to get a lot better guys than he was getting at a Wofford and has already made a depleted VT roster empowered. Pretty cool.

It's true, and no program gets championships out of merely "good" coaches like UK does.

But still, this is a lot more fun than Joe B or Tubby years.

both suggestions are dumb, just as dumb to compare Va tech to Evansville as some are going to try to do. One is a major conference team the other is a N.I.T/CBI tournament team in a low major

Some on here were ready
to fire Cal when we lost to Evansville.

Powerful Virginia Tech curb stomped by mid major Dayton.

Also, that loss of a mid major beating a #1 team at home that never happens. Stephen F. Austin says hello.

For people badgering the original poster so much it’s funny how quickly things can change in just one day.
