He touched the ball before we did and that's why he was able to push the ball away and was given to Iowa on that punt

Should have been gone long ago. Nobody could do worse. His kick return blocking schemes are the worst I have ever seen. Repeatedly starting at the 18 yard line when the kick doesn’t make it to the end zone is pathetic. His punt return team is ****. We don’t block any punts. We can’t snap it to our kicker. We can’t kick it straight. We lead the nation in getting our punts blocked. We shank a punt every week. What does he actually do?

Will never understand even attempting a punt return vs Iowa. Seemingly every week (or at least vs NU), they score off a muffed punt. Up 10-0, just guard against the fake punt and let the punt roll. Instead, Nebraska's special teams screws up multiple times yet again to keep a lifeless opponent in the game. It's so damn frustrating.

The problem with Foley are all the ST blocking and return schemes.
His schemes divide the field in thirds...ham, bacon, and sausage.
Punt rush is called kitchen closing in 5 minutes.
Punt blocked is called a broken yoke.

Overall, the ST's are just toast.

Applying logic is different than defending someone. I’ve returned kicks and punts. I see guys randomly do stuff a high schooler knows better than to do. At some point guys have to perform. I really don’t care if he stays or goes.

When will I know if special teams is fixed?

When the opposing team punts, I will get genuinely excited about the opportunity to take a return to the house vs current state where my butt puckers and I wince in fear about the impending momentum swing.

When Iowa was kicking their 50 yarder - all the hawk fans around me said “it’s over - he’s gonna nail it”. Vs when we kick I cross my fingers and toes and say a little prayer for us to snap, hold and boot successfully.

The difference is astounding and speaks to why Foley should be gone before the bowl game.

That man is the ninth highest paid special teams coordinator in the country. Satterfield was top 10 as well. Then we take projects on a 26 year old receiver coach instead of using up our assistant salary pool. Gross negligence on all parts so Matt Rhule can run his own personal agenda of overpaying his friends and boosting his own ego as a self-perceived coaching development savant. He will fail as a coach until he fixes himself as an employer.

Fire Satterfield, hire Dana. Fire McGuire, Barthell, Foley and go pay top dollar for new assistants. Meaning go steal good top tier assistants and don’t overpay people that have terrible production history.
