Hagans had 7 TOs and 3 assists. Herro has 7 points. Can’t have both this things and beat anyone.
Auburn won shooting 40% overall and 30% from the 3. This one was on us. Why it hurts.

Yep you can’t win at this level without an experienced PG. Even if he is a freshmen phenom, still hard to do.
I agree. However I totally don't want to dog out the kid but he is just not as advanced at this time as other point guards we have had under Cal. Your point guard can not make so many turnovers and miss so many shots.He could grow and improve if he his sticks around. In March teams have to have great guard play to win. Alas UK did not have that this year.
Just think if UK had played. We would have won by 20 instead of standing around looking totally confused.
Free throws ends a season again. Disappointing. Not like we were going to win it all but to lose to a team you beat twice that you should have jumped all over in the first half. Damn. And of course we lose a heartbreaker so duke can win a title.
Auburn did adjust. Neither of those guys scored in the first 8 minutes and then they adjusted. Us, not so much.
I will be surprised if he does as well. His gameplans/strategies do not work without superior athletic ability... ESPECIALLY length and shot-blocking.
I have never understood why he doesn't value shooters more, but he is full of crap talking about "position-less" basketball if all the players cannot shoot.

If Herro went to any other school, he'd be back for his sophomore year, but here at UK, we kick them right out the door. We never get to see them anywhere near close to their best.

I hate to pile on but I started saying mid season that he is our Achilles Heel and would take us out of the tournament. It was very clear early on that he suffered from a severe lack of confidence, the one thing you need in a point. Just was afraid to break down and score and struggled really bad with his hands.
I hate it for him because he has so much more potential than he shows but he has to fix his hands and fear of missing.

They make first 2 FT's miss the 3rd ball bounces around off rebound to PJ falling out of bounds he throws it in to Auburn they throw to the corner hit a 3.
5 point play.
In the end no one knows how it would have ended in regulation had that 3 pointer not happened.
That said still should won in regulation had a 2 point lead 51 seconds left couldn't get a stop then turned it over not getting a shot to take the lead to win it.
Rough 2nd half and OT free throw shooting really hurt.
Really tough pill to swallow this loss against a team we beat by 27 earlier and they were missing a good player.
