How many are daytime weekday games before the holidays? Real question?

Another Miami Beach slot. Meaningless in every way and of no benefit to TU.
3-4 would be my guess. Bowls no one cares about other than the teams playing

Imagine you took that week off and Sunday you drove to your in-laws' house in Des Moines and it's 20 degrees outside and you don't have to work and your wife will kill you if you start drinking at 2:30 in the afternoon and you've spent 3 hours already talking about the weather with your father in law with another week to go, and thank you Lord, a football game!
Aha! It is for those 10 people.

Well, and the airport bar people! You can't tell me you haven't found yourself in a situation where you watched some stupid, meaningless (for you) football game because it was better than the alternatives... Or as I call it, every Dallas Cowboys game I've seen in the last 20 years.

Look at the bright side. On a Monday afternoon five days before Christmas there won't be any other games competing with our game for viewers. For every football fan in America who has that day and time open to watch a game, the Myrtle Beach Bowl will be their only option. Also, ODU sounds like the name of a fancy ladies' parfume.

A major defect with the bowls is the warped payout system:

Houston went 11-2 and played in a conference championship game, plays in a bowl that will pay only $1.4 million.

ECU gets $2.0 million for their bowl,

There are at least 10 p5 teams that are only 6-6 or 7-5 and are playing in bowls that pay $4.4 to $6.4 million.

With conference sharing I wonder if it matters

I just took the day off on the 20th even though it is not good for me.

Why?

It's what addicts do.

I was surprised when Babe said they were travelling.
Yes, even when the team was 3-6 the band was still being reminded of a potential bowl trip.

Plans were being made yesterday afternoon but were canceled just minutes before today’s rehearsal.

I haven’t heard anything about the spirit squads yet. My son sometimes plays Captain Cane but he hasn’t heard a word either way.

It was apparently due to a lack of available funding.

It’s a shame because our oldest daughter and her family live in Fayetteville NC and were planning to attend and now they probably won’t. That just means even fewer fans at the game.
Wow
Sad

Wait the school can’t afford to send the band to a Bowl Game??? That’s ridiculous. Even though it’s on a Monday afternoon it’s still a reflection of the university experience at TU. I wonder if any of the other AAC teams will leave their bands behind? Shows the world that TU is broke. I do not know who made this choice but it’s a bad one. Just my 2 cents and it’s only worth 2 cents to me ….

It is not that unusual to leave the band at home for a faraway minor bowl game, right?

I was surprised they were going but surely a 35 person no marching basketball band could travel or TU could hire a high school band
I noticed this year that no visiting team brought their band
Years past we’ve seen UH and Navy

The decreased travel for bands could also be due to Covid protocols and additional testing like the athletic teams have been doing.
