DREW ALLAR FILM STUDY

See Link and all aboard the hype train! Even as a high school kid, he looks like a designer-brand Mason Rudolph (I mean that as a compliment considering the numbers Rudolph put up with Yurcich at Okie State). The first half of the video was the most impressive to me. Yeah, he's big and has a Sunday arm already, but I didn't realize how surgical he is as a passer -- throwing guys open, trusting his receivers to be at the spot when the ball arrives. I don't know a lot about the Medina HS program, but he didn't look like he was throwing to D1 receivers. Guys were covered but he was able to throw into tight windows. Obviously today is a day for irrational hope and excitement, but Allar just looks like a can't-miss.

Was reading an article by his HS coach and they run a complex offense for HS and he said Allar had to make at least 3 pre snap reads and figure out where to go to with the ball or audible ... coach said he has an excellent head on his shoulders and a very good football mind. He is not just an athlete who can't think, he understands the game and knows where to go with the ball

If we get a few years of what Mason Rudolph did at Oklahoma State, we will be blessed for sure!

My take, and this is pretty high praise, is that we are looking at Phil Jurkovec 2.0 type guy in style and ability. That's a good sign, as up until injury, Jurkovec was thought of as a 1st Round guy.

I can't say that Allar will take us higher than we have been (13-0, 12-1 regular season and CFP invite), but one thing stands out on these highlights: Medina will not easily replace him. He was under duress quite a bit in the highlights and he still made plays. That means a lot.
