I keep seeing this # and just wondering who the hell came up with it? Is this advocating retreat if it isn't going your way? What this has to do with football I just don't know.

Chris Ash Press Conference: "The players were equally impressed by their coach. Looks like somebody wanted to start a high volume thread, congrats.
The FAMILY on the back of the jersey was just painful to look at. We deserved to be mocked for that.
"Fight or Flight" = acute stress response. When faced by an imminent threat, we're wired to either combat that threat or turn tail and flee.
Ash trying to tap that primal dynamic, via a jesture of machismo, likely a challenge to a vulnerable recruiting class and transfer possibilities. Time to show your mettle guys: are you a fighter or a chicken shat? If you're not a fighter, you don't belong, anyway.
Kinda gimmicky. Kinda sophmoric. Kinda smart, too, in a culture of hashtags and soundbites.

Its a syndrome usually used in pyschoanalysis associated with military combat or stress situations that 2 things will happen under stressful conditions...you'll either get mad and stand and fight or scared and flee..last I heard it commonly used was in the marine corps Viet Nam era..In Scotland's Highlands they used to say ''Feet or Flee''

I like its application to in state recruits. Fight for the home team or GTFO.

I used to hang out on "the Avenue" in my younger days. Finish Line sports bar, Rockin Robins, Ed's Hot dogs (JJ's sucked) on Bloomfield ave across from Branch Brook Park.
It's a basic psychological stress response and it tends to be more pronounced in males. Basically if confronted with a problem/issue or threat of some perceived kind, the reaction is either to engage and confront it or fly/run from it. In a lifetime .. most people experience both sides of this.

I think it is bigger than that, it is also a message to the current team.
It means if you're a high school kid in NJ and leave the state to play football, you're a pu$$y.

With your manifest linguistic abilities, it's okay to come right out with it and use the noun form.
I think those saying it is aimed at recruits are right. It's like at tOSU we say come to Ohio State or get beat by Ohio State.
If it's aimed at recruits and new Jersey high school players soon to leave high school it's exactly the kind of thing we need--emphasis on getting all those nj recruits we're losing and emphasis from the get go on playing for your home state and kind of mocking/shaming those who leave. It amazes me how gentlemanly and meek our past coaches have been on the subject especially considering our insistence on trying to play tough guy football on offense.
