Fickle is coaching not really coaching but still kinda coaching the bowl game. Seems awkward for all parties involved.

Leonard coaching too, very strange. And this has all the makings of a wild game already. Long TD, terrible tackling, long kick return, red zone TO and it’s still the 1Q.

Tim Beck was on the sideline for coastal as well. Used to be that new coaches would do an interview with the announcers and stay out of the way. New era of cfb, I guess.

Why is Fickell allowed on the sideline?

Remember when Riley was hired when Pelini was fired he watched the game from the stands what’s the rule on this?

Still wonder what made Fickle jump as Wisconsin compared to when he was offered Michigan State. State was competing and beating Michigan and OSU. Maybe he just wanted to eat a lot of cheese and become a fat bastard

Some strange scheduling by ESPN. I'm on Mountain time and there's still no way I'll stay up for all of this game. Why on Earth would you kick this game off at 9:30 Central?

3 games on before it. Is Arizona Mountain or Pacific this time of the year

Yes but the three games ahead of it were not exactly marquee matchups. Would there have been a rebellion if Coastal vs. E. Carolina was on ESPN2?

Arizona = Mountain time in the winter. But I'm mainly talking about Big Ten/Big 12 viewers who are on Central time.

Found it strange seeing Fickel on the sideline as well. That’s gotta be awkward for all involved. Typically you let the outgoing regime run the show til the end of the season. Although I think Brian Kelly did this when he went to Cincinnati.

I'm sure the local establishments enjoy their bars being full of Badger fans all day long.

if memory serves Fickell is currently the head coach as hired by the AD

therefore common sense would dictate that Fickell can do whatever the f*#k he and the AD decide is in the best interest of program going forward .. even if that means …. gasp …. standing on the sidelines during a game

Oklahoma State’s season turned to crap after a good start. They ended up with a losing confidence record and a bowl loss. Same with Baylor.

Frost went back and coached UCF and Pelini went back and coached LSU in the championship.

That is completely different, can’t believe U can’t see the difference..

Fickell is Cincinnati coach. Where was he during the Cinni bowl game?
SF was working both ends of the candle recruiting and getting UCF playing Auburn in the Peach..

Also to add. When frost and pelini took over, NU was not playing in a bowl game.

Or just maybe I misread the post. Haven't watched any of the bowl games, better things to do. I assumed they were at there former teams bowl games.

Did I mention that Fickell IS A DOOFUS!
oh you don't like him, I don't know much about him, except he had a good passing qb and recruits in the Ohio valley.

it does seem awkward, UNLESS, behind closed doors the dc wants to stay as dc...and fickle is out there seeing what has to work with and getting a feel for the team and vice versa...

Football is a 365 day a year job. I have never understood coaches getting hired December 1st and the team is playing in a bowl and they wait until after January 1st to get involved in football activities.

Why wouldn't you jump in and start putting in things you want done?

Very well could be the new norm. Why I think it’s awkward is Fickle is roaming sidelines with coaches that are coaching their last game for the team, as well as Jim Leonhard who assumed who would get the job but didn’t. While the old staff most likely had animosity towards the AD one would think it would trickle over towards Fickle as well. It’s kind of like having your wife leave you and brings her new man into your home but you still need to mow the grass for another month while he stands their drinking beer and micromanage how you mow.

But i am sure he is doing it now, just not on the sideline...Actually getting your hands dirty and actually coaching my actually alleviate some of the animosity...and forge new professional relationships.
