I am amazed that this board isn’t lit up with posters this week. The first two weeks this board was full of posters (many probably were trolls from other teams) complaining about what was on the field.

Why is it so hard for so many of these posters to come in after a satisfying victory? I just find it interesting...

I’m not saying much as I still am not overly impressed with this team and staff, so I’m not going to heap a bunch of praise due to a final score. The OL and AM still have me concerned. Run game had a few breaks, but still stuffed a lot. D has been a pleasant surprise overall, but some better passes that OSU and Wisconsin won’t miss would’ve allowed the Huskies to score more than they did. Overall play calling? They are improved, but nowhere close to what the hype machine promoted.

I hear ya. This board shouldn’t come in and give credit where credit is due. Just ***** when things are bad. That’s acceptable.

44-8 was nothing special. No sacks, 1 penalty, won the turnover battle, not much to post about.

Yeah I too am a bit side-eyed about that, but it’s always been that way. Mostly lurkers that don’t have anything to say except when Nebraska suxxx. Which sometimes they really do, but at least add some extra content during the week.

NIU is a decent team. They are better than South Alabama so I think we can see how much we have improved in three weeks. We need to keep improving. We have the horses to win next week at night on the road. 3-1 for Ohio State.

I still think we are a work in progress. I think the team is still fragile. We can take nothing for granted and will need maximum focus to play well in the B1G. We could go 3-9 or 9-3. Our margin for error is that slim.

Best thing I saw yesterday? One penalty.
Worst thing: Cam Taylor and Jaimes. Hope both are ok

I agree. I said our talent level “isn’t so superior”. But I think we do have more talent on our team than every team we face except OSU and Wisconsin.

In Frost’s post game presser he made a comment that was a bit refreshing, then followed it up with one that frustrates me. Basically he said that, with regard to playcalling, he preaches to the players to go hard with out fear of failure and that the staff had to remind him of that this week. That was refreshing to hear, owning up to the “mistake”. But then a follow up question was asked, are you referring to the overtime last week? And Frost replied, I don’t want to talk about last week.

The frustrating part is that HE brought up last week. Just answer the question “ not just OT but the whole 4th quarter, but I don’t want to get into it any further”. I hate when people bring things up on their own but don’t want to answer it specifically when asked for further comment.

Not really a huge deal, it’s just a pet peeve of mine, developed mostly over 30 years of time with my wife.

Northern Illinois isn't a bad team and we crushed them. It amazes me that you can't see how far the blackshirts have improved this year. It's been a long, long time since they've been this good. Oh sure, they can and will get better......but hey, they've made some huge steps in the right direction. Also, where is the massive crowd of genius posters all claiming that Chin needs to be fired?

Yes, we've got a long ways to go. Especially the OLine. But is NU getting better? You betcha.....

In the overall scheme of things, beating Nebraska is a bigger deal than beating Memphis. I would bet dollars to donuts that a decent part of their fall camp was used to prepare specifically for Nebraska.

That quote about being reminded not to fear failure was my MAIN takeaway from all of yesterday. The reason is in the whole second half and especially OT during the loss I was shouting at the TV "I thought we wanted to excel and not fear failure!"

As far as your pet peeve, I was just glad Frost opened up and gave a little insight that he normally doesn't and if he didn't want to talk about it further, I was OK with it.

Besides... I didn’t ask people to be giddy. Just asked them to be fair. If you’re gonna crap on the coaches and team when they underperform, commend them when they outperform all prognostications, from the experts off this board as well as those self-proclaimed experts on this board.

Kinda makes me wonder if people are sulking because we did so well and they don’t want to come in have to eat the tiniest bit of crow.
