but for year 8 in Pikiell to have an underrecruited freshmen guard as your best guard is damning...and I like J MikeGuard take away is that Davis is the best guard on the team
Let’s be fair …we didn’t expect cam to go. Still on pike not to be a guard short …but it’s part of the reasonbut for year 8 in Pikiell to have an underrecruited freshmen guard as your best guard is damning...and I like J Mike
Absolutely. If JMike goes down for the season we are going to be horriblebut for year 8 in Pikiell to have an underrecruited freshmen guard as your best guard is damning...and I like J Mike
but he brought Noah in from the portal before this happen...and remember he was a guy coming off an injury. I just think this staff is not working the portal in the aggressive manner our peers areLet’s be fair …we didn’t expect cam to go. Still on pike not to be a guard short …but it’s part of the reason
Curious how much of it is NIL and how much is Pike’s focus on player retention / development and doing right by “his guys”. Because the latter strategy with the current roster is ineffective. Hope he’s willing to “have the talk” with guys that aren’t viable Big Ten players and then attack the portal hard. Can’t waste next seasonbut he brought Noah in from the portal before this happen...and remember he was a guy coming off an injury. There is some truth …and we don’t have a single healthy person From the portal this yearbut he brought Noah in from the portal before this happen...and remember he was a guy coming off an injury. I just think this staff is not working the portal in the aggressive manner our peers are
I wonder if the staff has learned any lessons about bringing in players coming off serious, season ending injuries. Noah, AWilliams and Ogbole have given us almost nothing this year. Still waiting on JWilliams . . .Absolutely. If JMike goes down for the season we are going to be horrible
Noah and Williams both look out of shape and slow.... on a team that was supposed to be faster... slow Paul and slow Cam infinitely better
I don’t know if we have much choice given the construction of the team, but our opponents very much want Derek Simpson taking as many shots as he is willing to take.We crucified Paul for not being a willing scorer in his minutes okayed , but Noah is as bad if not worse
29 minutes and 4 shots is not acceptable
Roll the ball to Simpson . He at least had the balls to try to make something happen to win .
Roll the hall to Jmike ….ditto Derek
The passive play will results in a lot of L if we don’t change the rotation. See my post above
I think he “had the talk” with Palmquist and he ultimately welcomed him back due to his ineptitude in the portal.Curious how much of it is NIL and how much is Pike’s focus on player retention / development and doing right by “his guys”. Mag didn't play well, but let's at least give the guy a little more time to find his footing. He has barely played in 10 months.Where are the bad Mags posts today?
1 for 9 and three rebounds and b*tching about Fernandes. Or Simpson.
Shame on RU fans.
In terms of passing up shots today, it sure felt like itBut I was recently told he was giving us Mulcahy level performance...
Agreed but nonetheless 1 for 9 and three rebounds. Big reason for today.Mag didn't play well, but let's at least give the guy a little more time to find his footing. He has barely played in 10 months.
And he was being guarded by a player a half a foot taller much of the time. That didn't help either. Lack of size in the backcourt a real issue
He is short and not fast or quick, something I was not expecting. Is he slower now because of the injury?I literally said this back in April when his visit was reported:
"This is my personal NBA bias.
I see 5'11" and think non-starter."

Oskar is the Ndongo replacementI think he “had the talk” with Palmquist and he ultimately welcomed him back due to his ineptitude in the portal.

what we are missing with Paul gone is his toughness , rebounding, leadership and basketball IQExactly. Coaching staff drove Paul out the door for Noah. Huge miscalculation.
I agree that it was a collective team failure. Its embarrassing watch Stonehill make foul shots while Rutgers shoots bricks on their home court. All the time spent in the practice facility simple not translating to game time achievement.Talent matters and this team is coming up short.Agreed but nonetheless 1 for 9 and three rebounds. Big reason for today.
Can’t rip Simpson who actually had a nice complete game.
Fun? to bash Fernandes but Mags still went 1 for 9 today.
Can question our toughness but if Mags is playing has to grab more than three rebounds and one basket from the field.
RU fans selective in their bashing?
Bringing Palmquist back was after we got the late departures of Spencer and Mulcahy after the regular portal had already closed.I think he “had the talk” with Palmquist and he ultimately welcomed him back due to his ineptitude in the portal.

This is a continued trend of Noah showing little aggressiveness. This team is in desperate need of a guy to try and take over when the offense goes stagnate. Our guards were horrific no doubt, but literally no one in an RU uniform played well, and the coaching didn't help any.
Yes, lol it was that play that drove me to this post.there was one play where he had an open 3, passed it up...you could see Knight on the bench stand up disgusted
Was talking to someone who said he Is a close friend of Paul’s family. He said the amount of $$ Paul got was unbelievable.Exactly. Coaching staff drove Paul out the door for Noah. Huge miscalculation.
If we want to be critical of roster construction it has to be noted how much Cam Spencer F’d Pike and Co.but for year 8 in Pikiell to have an underrecruited freshmen guard as your best guard is damning...and I like J Mike
I agree with everything but that last sentence. A lot of Omoruyi's points were because of Paul Mulcahy working him open against the opponent's defense, and Fernandes has not shown any ability to get him the ball or force the defense to react to him.If we want to be critical of roster construction it has to be noted how much Cam Spencer F’d Pike and Co.
The roster was really being shaped around him. I assume Pike was intrigued at the thought of a Noah&cliff pick and roll when you’d have Spencer, GG, hyatt spacing. Now we only have that extra shooter to open it up for him.
Noah does fit better with Cliff than a Paul Mulcahy but that was with Cam still on the roster.
We are definitely going to need at least 3-4 in 25 as most likely Ace and Dylan are one and done something we never had before we can pray they stay for 2 but very doubtful as they are already both predicted to be top 5 picksThere is some truth …and we don’t have a single healthy person From the portal this year
There is a reason we have 5 schoarship frosh coming in …and I expect 3-4 for the class of 2025 coming in ….
Despite wanting to “play faster”…and we will play a little faster, it’s about getting guys who are willing to defend and board (and btw, Dylan and airous know they need to defense and board to be lottery picks )….and you get more of that with growing frosh up and recruiting the right kids ….then portal fixes
The issue is we had a two man class in Jaden jones and jalen miller and got a zero from them …they are supposed to be leading juniors in the backcourt …and we struck out and have been using band aid portal fixes since ….
Noah’s play is reminiscent of an aging mlb player playing out his last free agent contract with his mind on life after baseball.
I’m sure Noah got his NIL and he’s content playing out the year as it goes
We’re 12 games into the season and if Noah was going to be a leader - we would have seen some hints of it by now.
I believe the rule has changed for a single portal deadline.I agree with everything but that last sentence. A lot of Omoruyi's points were because of Paul Mulcahy working him open against the opponent's defense, and Fernandes has not shown any ability to get him the ball or force the defense to react to him.
Personally, I feel there should be a single portal entry deadline, not a later one for grad transfers.
Correct.I believe the rule has changed for a single portal deadline.
How can a staff consisting of mostly D-1 star guards make such a mistake. It's mind boggling to think they all thought Noah could be a difference maker at this level - even more mind boggling to believe that more than one of them believed he might be an upgrade at PG over PM. I'll always believe here that Pike allowed himself to be influenced by others less experienced than himself. I'll bet he's kicking himself.Complete mistake by Pikiell
I'm still a Derek Simpson believer. It's only 11 games into his sophomore season. He's gone from our worst 3-point shooter last year to one of our better ones this year, he's one of our better back court rebounders, and he's our best foul shooter. Dylan will help make both him and JD outstanding contributors next year.I don’t know if we have much choice given the construction of the team, but our opponents very much want Derek Simpson taking as many shots as he is willing to take.
