I listen to T & L at work and driving, religiously. It’s my go to podcast. I have several other ms that range across several other topics (not just sports) but T&L is the one i rarely miss an episode of. Even my younger kids don’t complain when I play it. I used to have to drive them 45 mins to school every morning when their mom and I split and it was basically part of our daily routine.

That being said, the new co-host leaves a lot to be desired. He’s too young to relate to hadad i believe. I never listened before Robbie was on there so I don’t know what the show was like before. I will continue to listen and hope they figure it out. Am I alone in this thought?

I like him. He's got some good takes on sports. He's got a good voice because of the midwestern (meaning neutral) accent, which I prefer on radio or a pod. And I think it's interesting to have a younger guy and his perspective on there. I also think it's pretty funny to hear Hadad throw out some reference that all 40- and 50-somethings get, and this kid has no clue. Think they should play that up even more. Hadad can tell Barone about the Sopranos, The Office, etc. and maybe Barone can explain what the hell these Zoomers are doing these days.

As someone who is around the same age as Barone, I like him. It's different. Hadad explaining some of these 30+ year old references that Robbie would've understood is a pro for me. Barone explaining some of the new-gen stuff to Hadad is funny. Plus hopefully with Barone there will be less droning about wrestling

I have not missed one of T & L/B & B pods 12-13 years. Robbie was the best co-host, but I enjoyed Bob & Joel also. Hadad vocalizes all of my natural negative thoughts about MSU Athletics. Carlo adds some fresh perspective to the show. I just hate that he will be moving on to better things than WCBI shortly & Brian will have get another new co-host. I also like that they have added Brooks to the show weekly. Brooks has a wealth of both baseball & specifically MSU baseball knowledge. I share some common friends with Brooks & trust his thoughts. Brooks is very close to the program and may be able to provide some solid insights on recruiting both high school/juco & transfer portal.

Charlie & Bart's podcast is easily my 2nd favorite MSU podcast.

I am also enjoying Robbie's new podcast with Hadad once weekly and his content on State 1878.

Pretty good content for the money. Plus the other State podcasts are wayyy too buttoned up for me. They have the feel of damp carpet and old furniture. T&L has the conversations that I want to be a part of, less the wrastlin’ talk.
Easily the best State podcast by a mile. Hell it’s a good podcast in general (even the rumblings which I would consider non sports related). It’s great and I really appreciate the amount of content they put out. It makes working alone with a pair of AirPods a lot more enjoyable.

I didn't listen before Robbie either, so can't compare the before but certainly enjoyed the show the last few years on my commute. I will still listen, I really like Hadad and his thoughts. I don't dislike the new guy, just not all in yet either. I like the conversations with Brooks and I will listen to Robbie's podcast on the days that Hadad is on. Having said that, this version on T&L isn't the same and I will miss the old, but I will still support.

There was a significant age difference between Brian and Bob on the B&B show and that was good as well. I haven't listened that much the past 9 months or so, but that has more to do with athletic underachievement than the show itself.

I'm sure Carlo will find his groove as well. Currently listening to his 2nd Rumblings. And I used to skip some Rumblings episodes. Baseball success has brought me back to the show.

I think you've just got to give the kid a little time to settle in. He is young and new so he naturally tends to just follow Hadad right now and that can be a bit boring but I think he will get better. With that said, while I enjoyed Faulk on the whole, he did a few things that drove me crazy. He did not take listener criticism well, sometimes he and Hadad's bickering made me want to poke holes in my eardrums and worst of all he was a moon landing skeptic. Barone will be OK but as someone already said, he won't be there that long regardless.

Winning is the best draw there is although I must confess when we are really stinking it up I tune in to commiserate and validate my outrage or sorrow or whatever. The worst is when everyone just stops caring like this year in basketball.

Robbie's thin skinned, a bit of a blowhard, and way to aggressive online when people simply disagree with him. I'm sure he's a decent guy IRL, but he's not my favorite MSU "personality".

I think this is an accurate description of my feelings, too. I don’t hate him and he is not terrible, the chemistry between him and Faulk was great. Hell I even miss the ad reads, and their stuff like “50 brother” “tell em Faulk” “it’d be weird if it was in Byram”

But why even bring in a non msu guy, especially a kid?! Whose idea was that?!

I think they will get there. When Robbie first started, I was always going to miss the "wooooo" by Joel. They will figure it out. The biggest risk is when the new guy moves on and my cousin has to go through this all again.

Give him time it takes a minute to get comfortable and develop chemistry. He's not annoying and he is knowledgeable so hes off to a good start in my book
Knowledgeable about what, exactly? He’s not even an msu guy. He knows nothing Hadad is talking about. I’m curious what his knowledge is about

I do not really have an issue with the new version of the show, I think Carlo will continue to settle in and get better and better. My only complaint, and I understand it is his job, but I don't love the co-host of the most popular MSU podcast tweeting OM content.

I'm fine with the kid. He and Brian just need more time together. They will eventually meld and find their rhythm.

It's a little frustrating not having a guy that Brian can say "Hey, remember that 2001 Egg Bowl?" and he spouts off a couple of factoids about it, but Carlo does seem very in tune with recent games.

I may be completely wrong about this, but there's an old saying about not bringing your personal life to work, and whereas Hadad is fantastic about bringing the exact same energy to every show, I sometimes got the feeling that Robbie would let personal stress come out on the show. Like, to the point where Hadad would have to completely back out of their argument because Robbie was about to blow.

Overall, I think they did a really good job for the last couple years though

I like the new guy more than Robbie. They have a better flow without any off shoot rants about something some random said to Robbie on twitter.
I don't know why this has always bothered be so much, but during football season, those guys would occasionally get completely lost down a rabbit hole game of "let's try to guess the TV schedule in 6 weeks", and it would drive me absolutely nuts. Like seriously, ten minutes straight of hypothetical "well, if this team loses, it'll be a 6PM game, but they won't want to put team XYZ on CBS two weeks in a row, and game #3 has to be a night game because it's in Baton Rouge...". and on and on and on.

I think you are right on this. I felt like Robbie enjoyed the audience and interaction that came with the job, but did not like the negativity that can come with the larger audience. He seemed to really focus on it at times and talk about it, which probably fed the trolls to do it even more. I could be totally wrong on that though.

All in all, great show. Big fan of Hadad, big fan of Robbie. The new version of the show will continue to get better.

Robbie definitely fueled the trolls by continuing to interact with them. Watching that one account switch from #1 Robbie Faulk Fan to Robbie Faulk Hate Account always cracked me up

I couldn't listen to the show regularly with Faulk because he'd whine about something some message board handle said... not interesting at all.

Bob Carskadon was good on the show. I hated he left.

Thunder and Lightning peaked in 2014 when Joel Coleman rhymed "Kentucky" with "Kensucky" in his weekly ode to our opponent.

I agree. I listened with Bob, Joel, and Robbie, and this is the first time the cohost has been so bad that I rarely listen anymore. Just Hadad alone is even better.

The guy today, Barone (?), doesn't have a good voice for podcasts (IMO), one needs a strong voice and to really enunciate, i couldn't understand him. I do have bad tinnitus from spending my youth on the flight line, so that may have something to do with it.

I’ve listened to Hadad since nearly the beginning of his pod days. Barone is fine. Probably not the best fit but he’ll grow more into it with time too.

Robbie has been the best so far from both an entertainment and sports knowledge perspective, but yeah, he’d have at least one show a week where he bitched about some random message he received online. Just cry baby stuff like that would make me roll my eyes but they’d eventually move on. Joel was good and probably provided the best negative to positive contrast to Brian, but Brian couldn’t let his hair down as much with him. Bob was a lot of fun, good dude, but he probably lacked some sports knowledge.

Personally I’m partial to the Johnny’s World Podcast. Johnny has had some good guests.
Lots of great MSU interviews with former coaches and players. Johnny and BW are very knowledgeable and do a great job talking MSU sports and help spreading the word about Johnny’s fight with CF.

Ain’t nobody gonna sell you like yourself. And to do it in 3rd person is equally as impressive.
