i don't see another team next year being as good as the cats. I'm not good at explaining myself but I feel like uk has the deepest team next year. Combine that with the Cal (the best coach. K is old. Game has passed him) and I don't think kentucky can lose in march. I know a lot of you will say this is too early or I'm stupid, but I've just got a hunch... cats 2018. Also, it's may, what else should I write about?

"K is old. Game has passed him".

What in the hell does that even mean?

Best team doesn't always win, and our roster isn't even set yet. Let's not get ahead of ourselves.

Love your enthusiasm and hunches. You're right, it is only May so why not just dream a little at this point. We are talented but my biggest fear is lack of experience and proven leadership. Cal is the best at shaping young players into a team.

I think we stand an excellent chance of winning number 9. I think Green will be a better floor general than a lot of you think. I think Alexander will be a better shooter and player than a lot of you think. Bamba is coming so we have our shot blocker and inside presence. Knox will play 2g and 3 and shoot well from the 3 point line plus drive the ball. Vanderbilt is a monster and will shoot and drive at will. We have Richards and SKJ to back up and rest Bamba. We have Washington to back up Knox and Vanderbilt. We have WG to rebound, hustle and hit some 3's. We have Baker to back up Green and/or Alexander and hit 3's. I know this team is young but it is that way every year. If you look at this team on paper they are awesome. I know that what looks great on paper does not always mean they will be that great on the basketball court. I just have a great feeling about this bunch. Call it Karma or whatever, I just think we get number 9 this year. I think this ends up being at team as good as or better than our last NC team. Forgot to mention the most important reason we have a great team and win number 9. Coach Cal and Kenny Payne. Now take that and stuff it in your pocket. I love UK, Coach Cal, BBN, Kentucky, young women that like older men, Bud Select, Strange, monkeys, dogs, my corvette, my house, my wife, my girlfriend, her girlfriend, my wife's girlfriend, week-ends, Friday after 4:00 pm., puppies, chicken liver, soup beans and cornbread, pool parties, any party, any pool, potted meat, rain while I'm sleeping, thunder and lightening, meeting beautiful women, TJ, vacations...............

Kevin, coach K is going to be 71 or 72 in Feb. 2018. How long can he hold up? I remember when they forced coach Rupp out. Over time things happen! He may have won a title 2 years ago but he stole one player in this years class from Eastern Ky.

well, he DID win a title two years ago (gag). And he's attempted to embrace the OAD
Although, last season was interesting, to say the least. He did NOT handle that situation well at all. Hoping for even more of a train wreck next season.
I do think it's too soon to say the game has passed him up, though.....

I feel like last season was very telling. He hit the nail on the head in 2015, but that appears to be a flash-in-the-pan. Last year was laughable. I don't see it getting better at his age. The game has passed him.

BKO one of my favorite posters, but re-read my post you responded to! I didn't say the game had passed coach K !
On another note how is your husband doing? I too am a type 2 diabetic. on oral medication. Have lost 40+ pounds since our beloved Wildcats last loss. Plus I don't see my MD until late June. I'm going to shock him!

ugh - blame it on only having one cup of coffee before I read it :) I had the OPs post in mind when I typed that

He's doing okay - struggle sometimes, but the blood sugar is remaining decent, at least. He's pretty active. Does still need to lose weight. Appreciate you asking, and glad to know you're doing well!

I get kind of squeamish when I see these posts....even though, on paper, the team looks outstanding

We've learned that an injury can do you in at a moment's notice....Nerlens, WIllie, Poythress, etc......Not meaning to be a party-pooper but you guys know what I mean

Injuries can be devastating to a club. I'm an optimist, like the tools available and hope great chemistry is involved! Oh I'm so ready, Diallo I figure is gone and I sincerely wish him well. Let's get Cam Johnson and Mo Bamba and call it a Day. Bamba is the perfect piece to the puzzle. The kid is very Bright, great measurable, could be the best in the class. Knows the players, loves Cal and Kenny Payne but just bring it to Lexington Big Man and feel at Home! I just love this young Man! BBN

I drink three cups of coffee every morning before 9 am. Then I drink about a gallon of sweet tea throughout the rest of the day. I eat garbage. I sleep four hours per night. Someone help me. Help. Someone. Can anyone see me??

Hey, I love unbridled optimism. It's great to read and preferable to the doom and gloom from some.
Here's what I would say to next year being #9: you never know what might happen and I hope you're right.

But if I'm trying to be more realistic, I have to pull back on the reins a bit. This team has a lot of talent, but man "young" doesn't begin to describe it. This may be the youngest team in college basketball history. Now, if the Cats can get Bamba to sign and get either Diallo to return or Johnson to transfer in, I'll be feeling much better. But even then, it's hard to expect a title from a team with this much youth. But you can bet I'll be cheering them on every step of the way.

See ya? Is that you BWO74. Man listen please work on the sleep problem. I went on about 4hrs sleep a night for 2 years and it almost killed me. If you are serious, as a friend go to your Dr. and get some help. I almost waited to long.

If Coach K won a title two years ago and the game has passed him by, then where does that leave Cal? I mean it's been five years since he won...

I certainly hope you're right, but I don't see a team basically made up of one sophomore and the rest freshmen being able to win it all. Of course, Cal almost did it with five starting freshmen so I should probably just shut up!

But still, I try to leave these on my bedside table:

As someone else pointed out the tournament is single elimination. One loss and your out. Cal's had a few UK teams that would have breezed through a series but when it's one loss and go home it's just sooooo hard. Any team can have an off night and it's over. But we've got a good chance so hopefully we can do it.

How'd you fix the sleep problem? It's taking a toll for sure.

One thing I really like about this coming year is that we have SO many high-level recruits, we can sustain 1 or 2 of them not panning out. This team could win the title if you took out any one recruit, and I'd argue it could STILL win the title if you took out any 2 recruits (barring a few combinations).. That's pretty big.

Dr prescribed 3 medications at first, know I'm on one med. and sleeping like a baby 6 to 8 hrs. every night. Also limit my caffeine in the afternoons. Less stress and I feel so much better. Many people suffer from this but talk to your doctor he can and will want to help you. Good Luck. Believe me it's a very common problem!

National Championships are incredibly hard to win. Talent alone won't get one (see 2010 and 2015). A lot of things have to fall into place. Cats will be in the mix though.

Good to see so many feel optimistic! My theory is to keep knocking on the door and our turn will come. My concern is if with all our length will be be able to play man to man defense?
