What a bad decision that was to enter the ball to Lee late in the game down 4. Of course he turns and gets it taken away. Not likely he was going to score or if he got fouled not likely to make the free throws.

Ha yeah I'd like to know what Lee was thinking at that moment. That was so far out of his comfort zone.
I posted about that play in another thread. Cal's worst call of the game. ZERO chance Lee scores on a postup 15 feet from the basket. It's a guaranteed miss, turnover, or missed foul shots. I dropped a few F bombs after that one.
have to agree. people were saying lee sucks lol for turning it over at a crucial moment. but if lee in the post is what we come up with in a crucial moment, then there was another problem. he's not an offensive post player. if he wants to be a pro in some way he needs to learn though.
Like the commercial...he'll be going pro in something other than basketball - he has no shot in the D league even - overseas is his only chance.
If that's what he thinks he wants to do, he may as well start now because I haven't seen much improvement in 3 years. He was vastly overrated.
That was a dreadful choice , Lee has no offensive game to speak of and not a single post move . The outcome was a surprise to nobody which only made the decision even more mystifying . Was the call to go to Lee or did he decide to make a move ? They may have wanted him to pass it back out . Lee may be our most limited offensive player , how did he become option A ? Oh well
What happened to the freshman version of Lee that was dunking on everyone on every miss? When was the last time you saw him jam off a rebound? That play under the basket where instead of dunking he missed a bank shot killed us.
My problem is we haven't went to Lee like that all year except if Tyler is throwing him a lob for a DUNK! Lee also miss a easy Layup that all he had to do was DUNK it for 2. We went through a 4 minute mark not scoring after we tied the game at 50-50 and IU went up 10, 60-50. We then missed that easy Layup by Lee and I didn't understand when we cut the lead to 4 why not let Ulis or Murray shoot a 3 and get it to 1 or even a Briscoe two gets us two. We got it to 69-67 with 18 seconds to go and through that last 3 minutes we made some mistakes that we could have come back and overtaken IU in the end. Just wasn't meant to be this year and to start it off it all began last Sunday after winning that great Overtime game for SEC Championship and thinking we were headed for a decent draw. All we got from the NCAA Committee was the worst draw in the whole Tourney and seeing TA&M get the easy in the WEST and the #3 seed and we get the hardest in the EAST at #4 and IU 2nd round and UNC if we had won.
You know they are working with him , so I suspect it is Lees fault . Either he is not committing himself to developing or he simply can't . When I watch him it looks like he is trying to play volleyball , on defense he tries to spike his blocks and he can only dunk on a lob for offense . I think he likes to play that way because it's what he grew up doing and sometimes people reject change . Every other post player we've had was forced to work on their weaknesses to their benefit later on but Lee is the only player I remember doing the same thing since he's been here . T Jones came in as a face up player and Cal forced him to play back to the basket despite Jones not having many low post moves . That's one example but there are others , I don't think Lee wants to develop because he's content with his game .
I'm torn on this one. Lee seems like an incredibly nice kid, and I'm sure he works his *** off in practice. I just can't--for the life of me--understand why he's no better than the day he first set foot on campus.
I'm not going to second guess his work ethic, because Cal wouldn't have him on the floor if he wasn't working hard to improve.
I know everyone is down on AP and his inconsistency, but Lee is the bigger enigma in my opinion. Either way, he's a cat and that's all that matters.

Good to see the passion from the posters. When you get as old as me, and realize these guys are "kids" (though they may be your age), maybe you won't be as quick to demean them in a public forum.
I despise IU, more than you younger guys can fathom. You haven't had a rivalry with them every year throughout your life. My hatred for them is much more my hatred for UofL.

I'm sure he was supposed to pass out of the post & not put the ball on the floor & try to score. Cal didn't draw that up...come on
He'll be back to playing air guitar on the bench next season when Bam steps foot in Lexington. He needs to play alongside talent so he can be utilized in a garbageman type role, in which he could be a pretty valuable reserve. Otherwise, he brings little to the table. He's a 7th, 8th man on a typical Cal team. The fact that he got so many minutes this year speaks to how awful our frontcourt was.
When Lee came in he was a 5 Star player and everyone knew he would be a 2 or 3 year player but he has not progressed one bit. When I watch him play the only time he scores is when Ulis lobs him for a easy dunk and that is it for Lee. I would have given more minutes to Willis and let him take another 5-6 thees since he was hitting near 50% here since SEC Conference. His rebounding has improved and was getting near double digit rebounds and he improved on Defense. I just didn't get it that he didn't get 30-35 minutes and more shots from outside and 3 point shots. Just like vs. Stony Brook he only played 15 minutes and Willis was 3-3 and 2-2 from 3 and had 8 points and 7 rebounds in just 15 minutes. He plays 30 minutes and gets 8-10 shots and 5-6 from 3 and he scores 12-16 ppg and close to10-12 rpg. Hopefully, if Willis stays for his Senior year he gets 25-30 minutes and increase his shots do double digits and 5 or 6 from 3 point land and if he gets fouled he is near 88% from FT line. We have to get a Center like BOLDEN next year in place of Lee or Skal.
If you didn't know any better, you would have thought Bryant was the junior, and Lee was the freshman from their play today.
He had a 6 foot guy guarding him when they threw it in to him. How we have POY and Lee and neither one of them can make a basic post up move and finish 50 percent of the time is beyond me. All he had to do was turn and put the ball in, but he couldn't do it. I like POY, but he has probably missed more two footers than anyone in program history.
