Yes we definitely should temper expectations for next season at least. The schedule is just a beast. We need to give our new coach a year to get more of his personnel in place. I think we will be much improved as a football team but it might not show up on our record this year.

Just so folks remember what the schedule looks like for 2026 with the preseason rankings:

Youngstown State
Alabama (11)
@ Texas A&M (9)
South Alabama
@ South Carolina (24)
LSU (10)
@ Oklahoma (12)
Vanderbilt (31)
@ Tennessee (15)
Florida (19)
@ Missouri (20)
Louisville (27)

If Stein gets UK bowl eligible, that's one heck of a start.

I'm happy with Stein & expect he will do well by UK standards long-term. But I see no reason to expect immediate success - meaning 6-6, +/-, given the schedule, his newness as an HC, and the necessary roster rebuild. Net, I'm at 3.5 wins & won't fret about it - as opposed to how many on here behave; i.e., the sky's falling. Give the guy a chance, please.

I don't think fans expectations are out of control. Most would be ecstatic if we won 6. How we lose the games we lose is important though.

I’m just excited to have competency on the field.
No 9 player defenses on critical downs. No more playing not to lose. No more red assed coaching forgetting we have another play because he’s so irate about what happened 3 plays ago.

I expect us to be marginally to much improved in most aspects of the game, but we could still have the same record. So, my expectations are tempered.
