For a little different look...

Ryan Kelly vs Miami game. He was out of his mind

ACC championship against NC St looked like we would lose and the legend that is JJ Redick showed up

This past seasons ACC tourney run

Maui title where Thornton hit those threes

That JJ freshman year second half performance against the Wolfpack was out of this world.

Definitely 92 Duke UK to reach the FF. God what a game even when you watch it today it still makes you shake your head. All the plays that were made in that game from both sides with of course the final play topping it off.

.... the Duke vs Texas slaughter with jj....

I remember the pump-fake that JJ gave the UT player that sent him into the stands as JJ drained the 3. He is now a talk-show host on the sport-radio station here. He refers to that play / highlight sometimes as his '15 seconds of infamy'.

Added the Texas highlight video. - Dukehokie

83-84 season in Carmichael. Lost in a close game, but the first time I saw Dean Smith with look of "from here on out this Duke thing is going be a little different". Also had the most athletic basketball play I've ever seen Dawkins close to the top of the key, sees a pass to Jordan in the corner on the base line, turns covers about 20 feet in two bounding steps to block his shot and send it into overtime.

I'll just throw out some games that haven't been mentioned:

Duke at Wake Forest, 1997
NC State at Duke, 2000
Duke vs Xavier, 2004 Elite 8

Duke-Wake: Wake was #2 in the country, they had beaten us something like 8 or 9 straight times, and then there was Tim Duncan, the National Player of the Year in 97. Meanwhile Duke had been a fairly average team the past 2 1/2 years. Juniors like Wojo and Ricky Price had never been a good team before. This was the breakthrough game in my opinion. It was a battle and we made the big plays in the final 2-3 minutes.

NC State-Duke: This game had me on edge the whole last hour. It's a great game to re-live. I think most of us thought Duke would lose in overtime once State rebounded the intentionally missed free throw and scored a layup as time expired... Mike Dunleavy's block and save is one that I'll never forget.

Duke-Xavier: For some reason I didn't feel comfortable at this game beforehand or during the game. Romain Sato and Lionel Chalmers were beasts. But Luol Deng just kept making superstar plays in the final five minutes. His performance against Xavier down the stretch reminded me a bit of Battier's final few minutes against Arizona. He put the team on his back!

Here's the full NC State game.

Unbelievable block by Dawkins, similar to his block of a David Rivers shot in Cameron to preserve an NBC SUNDAY nationally telecast game vs Notre Dame. That was a fantastic weekend as about 14 hours earlier we nipped NC State in Raleigh!

How about the 94 tournament game versus Purdue and 'Big Dog' Glen Robinson.
Don't know if they still do this, but years ago there was the Hoop it Up 3 on 3 streetball tournaments that went around. They were in Charlotte the same weekend Duke was playing them to go to the Final 4, which happened to be in Charlotte. I ran into Bill Walton, who was there covering it for NBC. We spoke for about 5 minutes, very friendly guy. I asked him if he thought Duke had a chance, and he said yes if they double team big dog, guard Martin well, and make the others beat them. That's basically what Duke did if I'm not mistaken. I know Walton's a flake, but he was spot on.

Hey Walton receives a lot of criticism, but is really a student of the game. He showed this ON THE COURT w/the Bruins!

He was so good. Imagine him wit no injuries. One of my favorite things he did was block the shot, catch it and pass the ball down the court for a fast break and score. Now guys when they block it the slap in out of bounds, then hulk down down and stare at the player whose shot he blocked. OFC

Just think how big a weapon this could be if shot blockers would learn how to do it with today's athletes. As soon as his team mates saw the shot being blocked a couple of them would be breaking down the court. Talk about transition offense that would be the deal. Don't understand why it's not taught or desired. I guess blocking the ball into the 5th row is more of a ego builder. OFC
