Team looks so tired, I was worried after the late night fight and heartbreak at Iowa. Another game Wednesday against Purdue, and another Saturday against Michigan, and things can turn for the worst quickly here

Has nothing to do with fatigue. Just sleepwalking. Reading these stupid boards about how great they are. Listening to Andy Katz saying we'd go 19-0 at home.

Zero effort today. Worst game effort since Pitt. Gonna lose to these clowns.

Little bit of both probably.

I certainly didn’t see zero effort.
A bit of hyperbole on my part, np doubt. I was freaking out. The effort was there, but not close to what we saw against Indiana or Minnesota. We were playing well off their shooters allowing them to take lots of uncontested or lightly contested threes. It really should have cost us a win.
We are very fortunate 3 of our last 4 treys went in. I hope they learn from this.

I really don't buy the fatigue angle. We played 3 games in 3 days in the tourney 2 years ago and played with way more energy than today.

Just don't think they really ever took this game seriously until we were trailing by 6 late.

That , my friends, was a miracle we witnessed today.

Some fatigue plus some letdown against a supposedly weak opponent led to today's game. Thank goodness we survived it. Happens to everyone and not everyone will win a game like this.

Nebraska did look fresher

When was there last game before today?
They looked fresher because they were huge underdogs and wanted it more.

I've played in games in HS as heavy favorites against doormats. I've experienced the fog of expecting an easy win. Mentally its really difficult to care much about the game. It seems as though nothing is riding on the game so its impossible to get psyched up before or during the game. Just super low energy is all anyone can muster. Sleepwalking is an appropriate expression.

That extended timeout in the 2nd half, just before the Nebraska run, took away all of RUs momentum

A NU timeout, then a TV timeout right after it.

I’m confused. Are you saying the players read the boards and Andy Katz saying we go undefeated at home? If so how can you say they did not care about this game? Obviously they wanted to prove Katz right and continue to be undefeated at home.

3 games in 6 days including a very physical game at Iowa. Got back home late. Yup it was fatigue.

We had a double digit lead in the second half, despite not playing that well, so I don't buy fatigue. Nebraska hit a lot of threes and Mack is a good player, but Pike made good adjustments. Myles came up big on D in the last few minutes and we frankly got lucky since they missed a wide open three just before Geo's last shot. Some good things I saw was Kwasi having two good games in a row and hopefully continuing that, Geo getting closer to starting, and Mathis actually hit a nice mid-range jumper!

Teams collectively lose their energy and legs sometimes when you least expect it, and have their energy and legs sometimes when you least expect it.
It’s generally unexplainable

I thought fatigue and sluggishness Was a part

I also think ...like I said after game one, we are one more year of S&C away from being elite strength and conditioning program

. Good now ...monster next year

Good now also means some ebbs and flows in a season that already started almost four months ago

Don't think so. If so, how'd we have more energy playing 3 games IN 3 DAYS two years ago?

Of course they wanted to win. Problem is they were thinking Nebraska win was a foregone conclusion. Hence, nothing to get excited about. Just go through the motions and everything will work itself out.

Simple math. You are expecting them to play lights out for 120 minutes in 6 days. You are expecting all 120 minutes to be played at full speed. Much like a horse race, not how you start how you finish is what’s most important. We put the peddle to the metal too early. Again using the horse race analogy where the jockey has the horse at full speed to early and the is gassed down the stretch, the difference is Pike got the crowd to stand up and get loud and crazy the final minutes which helped us win.
Let’s agree to disagree and move on

I think sometimes you have to give the opposing team credit for freewheeling and making plays off the dribble.

Most of the B1G is very disciplined and Nebraska is kinda helter skelter on offense and willing to attack.

I know it's a foregone conclusion but these milestones are going to be erased in the next couple of weeks.

Winning season

Winning season for post season birth

Potential. 500 or winning record in conference play

Consecutive sellouts at RAC

1st time sweep of any B1G team (so far, Nebraska)

Home winning streak during a season

Having 7 players average between 7PPG and 12PPG, which makes us tough to scout and stop.

And fans have to drop this notion that Nebraska and Northwestern dont have high major players that are capable of winning. RU was in this position just 1 year ago and improved rapidly in a 3 game winning streak in late January 2019.

It is possible that Nebraska or Northwestern go on a 2 to 3 game winning streak later this year. It would not shock me if they pick off Michigan this week.

Yep if I was a betting man, lay the money on the Huskers against Michigan. If you are starting to make sense of the nonsense that is this year’s Big Ten conference, this game just feels like it goes to the Huskers

I think you are overplaying this. These guys looked plenty excited as they built the lead early in the 2nd half. But as noted(somewhere on this board) a couple timeouts took away our momentum, and Nebraska stepped up and went on a run.

Now they are still a pretty young team, so maybe with a solid lead, and then the timeouts the team did let off the gas for a little bit, so I think there is something to way you are saying, and that is something they need to learn from, but I don't think it's accurate to say these guys were not excited coming to play this game and were going through the motions.
