Mark Few has gone to the FF whenever he has had solid NBA-talented rosters.

2017, he got a team with Hachimura and Zach Collins (among others) to the FF. Several yrs later, (I believe when Lloyd was at AZ), He took a freshman led team (Jalen Suggs) to the title game. The next year, he had #1 recruit Chet, and got another 1 seed, but lost in the S16. Disappointment, yes, but elite recruiting for Gonzaga standards.

Yeah, he hasn't won, but 2 FFs at Gonzaga is pretty ******* impressive. I would put Lloyd one rung under him.

I respectfully disagree, I would take Loyd over Few. Few has to many miles for his age 😊

Few had some great teams, but he couldn't get over that hump. Not sure with NIL he will get those studs again.

Oh for sure, as a coaching candidate, I don't think Few is it. He's grown settled into where he's at. Would be a culture shock at a blue blood. In that regard, Lloyd is a more preferable candidate for an open coaching job (UK or otherwise).

Just making sure Few gets due respect for his coaching results.

You must be new or young. For UK to get blown out like Arizona did in the FF would have been an epic meltdown on this board and it would be repeated for years to come how bad the UK players and coach were. What happened to Arizona to get that close and then to not show up for the game and have a coach who was clueless how to stop the bleeding would not have gone over well here.

While it might not seem to make sense logically, it is far worse for the board to accept a catatrophic loss in the FF than an early round loss. RR posters just hate getting close and losing more than anything. Posters don't care nearly as much about a team losing that had no shot at a title as they do about a team that was expected by many to be cutting down the nets. The level of disappointment is completely different.
Some years, sure. This year would have been a miracle to get to the final four, and I think most stable folks would have been good with getting that far after the initial sting of a loss had worn off. It would have least given us hope going forward that we were building in the right direction. As is, we appear to be going backwards. I just think getting blown out by the best team in the country (IMO) in the final 4 and getting blown out in the first weekend aren't equivalents.

I do agree with you. You are being rational. This board is anything but rational. Rationally speaking, I would trade places with Arizona in a heartbeat. But, as we know losses like the one to Middle Tennessee and UAB in the tournament aren't really brought up that often. The ones that are deemed BIG losses include Georgetown in the FF, the Laettner shot, not playing Anderson in 1997, Tubby not having his best rebounder against Mich St, Cal keeping the Harrison twins on the court against Wisconsin, etc. Getting blown out in the semi-final with the team that Zona had would sting for a long, long time.
