Yet, ironically, having confidence in the program above and beyond a single coach brands you a 'bad fan".

Nope. And I have never said he was. In fact, I have conceded that whoever the next coach is --- will likely realize LESS success than Cal has during his tenure.
I am not sure what part of this is lost on you, but I have tired of the annual exodus. I am an older fella, and always enjoyed watching players return, develop -- and seeing teams grow and come together over a course of a few seasons.
Perhaps that is idealistic. But I am now willing to trade off the acknowledged dip in success for a structure more suited to what I enjoy as a fan. Why is that hard to comprehend? I am not asking you to agree with it, but you just don't seem to even get it.
It keeps coming back to --- "yeah, but he won't win as many games as Cal".

Yea but my point is the fact that we've had the success we've had THIS decade, and also the 90's, and also the 50's, and 40's, and then one in the 70's etc.....that is THE BEST that anyone has ever done it. If we had a better resume than that, damn. Then we would literally own nearly all of the decades. It's not possible with over 300 D1 teams.

But I am not going to be a poster on here who slams Cal on every thread, and then runs and hides behind the mantra of "wanting him here forever". Amazingly, I am quite sure I am FAR less ciritical --- and WAY less insulting --- of Cal than many on here who are so adamantly ripping my opinion. I find that curious, but whatever.

Anyway, my opinion is as posted. It is shared by at least one other on this thread.

Could we have another immediately after Cal? I dont know. Those that think it's all about the school are wrong as was proven last decade with 2 coaches.

I do not see a great replacement available at this time.

I agree with @morgousky, and would point to the man making those hires. I do think the school has more to offer a basketball recruit than any other in the country. It is not all about "the school", but both the school and the coach. I restate my confidence in the former to land a very good caliber of the latter.

Again, you seemingly do not share that confidence. So be it.

Actually, now I think you do get it.

I would only amend that "as long as Cal is gone" portion. It implies this is personal against Cal. It isn't. Not for me, at least.
I just don't enjoy the system--- one which you say has shifted. If true, so too will my opinion on the matter.

Poster the other day referred to me as a phony because I don't allow winning and losing to dictate my happiness. I get aggravated, but I have learned two things;
1. Good times don't last, so I'm gonna enjoy the ride! 2. Bad times don't last, so I try to endure. This is life in general and it will consume us if we don't learn to accept the roller caster ride we're on. So, enjoy and endure my friend. It's a good life in spite of this years team. Long live the memories of winningest program and wonderful trophys on display that are there to remind us of point number 1; and to sustain us when we're in point number 2 !

I get the problems people have with Cal. He's always been an acquired taste. I get that some are ready to move on from his early system here, but you've got to give it time. He hasn't had a few years to adjust.

Wanting Cal gone right now kind of just proves you don't like him, which is fine, some don't. Cal's statements and the way he recruits rubs a lot of people wrong, myself included. But threre's just no way you throw a coach like Cal out, it cannot happen. Accept it, move on.

They were role players expected to evolve into superstar players as they aged and matured. They were what they were; role players. I think Tubby meant well, but you can't make a duck into a graceful swan. Quack, quack.

I think you are part of a really large minority though. As I've said previously, there's a reason the 1992 team is in the rafters and is the most beloved UK team of all time. Contrary to smart *** comments here, most people do not expect a title every year, they want passion. Cals types of players lack passion due to youth, and also because he's recruiting guys who typically have already looked past college. He's a master and getting them to buy in though, but it's tough, and the product for most of the year is either too boring because they win big, or boring because of the learning curve and attitudes.

It's just a tough system to like regardless of hardware.

Well said. Also, I’m 63 yrs old and I think the older UK fans are more likely to feel as I do. As I’ve said a number of times, I’m still a huge fan of all UK sports and I have a lot of great memories of what Cal has done since he’s been here. Again, I don’t want Cal pushed out the door (he’s too good and it will never happen anyway) but his system and his flair don’t do much for me like they did when he first came to UK. I don’t think this year will end well but I hope next year shows great improvement. Peace.

Right. Plus Cal added something that UNC boasted about for years. "Place of the pros". It's a recruiting tool long after Cal goes. And adds something that we really didn't have previously.
